Position Type: FTE

Location: South Carolina Required

Position Overview

The Clinical Associate Director is a leadership role responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of SCIMHA's clinical programs and services. Reporting to the Clinical Director, this position offers operational and clinical oversight for service delivery, workforce development, program evaluation, and organizational initiatives. The Clinical Associate Director supervises clinical staff, encourages quality and compliance across the program, and helps ensure the effective delivery and long-term sustainability of infant and early childhood mental health services.

This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in South Carolina to support statewide relationship-building, partnership engagement, and periodic in-person meetings and activities.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Program Leadership

Provide operational and clinical leadership for SCIMHA’s clinical service delivery.
Supervise and support clinical staff.
Ensure high-quality implementation of evidence-based infant and early childhood mental health screening, assessment, treatment, consultation, and referral services.
Support clinical quality improvement efforts through ongoing review of program outcomes, documentation, and service delivery practices.
Coordinate implementation of evidence-based IECMH models and related clinical supports.

Sustainability, Compliance & Systems Development

Co-lead development of systems that support the long-term sustainability of SCIMHA’s clinical services.
Coordinate Medicaid enrollment, credentialing, paneling, and payer-related processes for clinical programs as appropriate.
Support development of billing, documentation, compliance, quality assurance, and reimbursement procedures necessary to sustain clinical services beyond the grant period.
Collaborate with organizational leadership to identify and implement operational processes that strengthen program effectiveness, compliance, and financial sustainability.

Partnerships, Training & Evaluation

Coordinate training, technical assistance, and workforce development activities.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to monitor program outcomes, evaluate impact, and support continuous quality improvement across clinical programs and services.

Project Leadership & Grant Management

Serve as Project Director for the Early Connections initiative and provide day-to-day leadership for grant implementation.
Oversee project activities, deliverables, timelines, and performance measures.
Ensure compliance with programmatic, fiscal, and reporting requirements.
Prepare required reports, continuation applications, and other grant deliverables.
Monitor project budgets, contracts, and grant documentation in partnership with SCIMHA's finance team.
Represent SCIMHA in meetings, community partnerships, and collaborative initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Must live in the state of South Carolina and be available for moderate travel within the state.
Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related behavioral health field.
Independent clinical licensure in South Carolina (or eligibility for licensure).
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in infant and early childhood mental health, early childhood systems, behavioral health, or a related field.
Training and experience in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and/or other evidence-based infant and early childhood mental health interventions (e.g., Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up, Circle of Security, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, DC:0-5-informed assessment and treatment).
Experience providing reflective supervision or consultation to clinicians serving infants, young children, and families.
Experience managing complex projects, grants, or multidisciplinary initiatives.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of infant and early childhood mental health principles, relationship-based practice, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with healthcare operations, Medicaid enrollment and credentialing, payer contracting, billing practices, compliance oversight, or behavioral health service reimbursement systems.
Experience developing sustainable funding and service delivery models for behavioral health programs.

Travel – Moderate statewide travel needed for meetings with program staff and partners.
