Full Job Description

WHO YOU CAN BECOME: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a 35-hour, non-exempt, hourly position who is responsible for the delivery and oversight of health care needs of all LaSalle students. Decisions and responsibility for the care of the students are met by the RN, in consultation with other ancillary providers and clinicians as indicated. This position is primary Monday thru Friday with one mandatory weekend per month. However, the shift could contain unique and changing work shifts. When screened by the hiring manager, this will be explained in more detail.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Provide nursing care to male adolescents in a residential setting.
Provide immediate first aid and triage and refer as needed for appropriate treatment.
Demonstrate the ability to delegate assignments to other team members.
Administer immunizations as per LaSalle School protocol and in accordance with NYS Health Laws.
Act as community liaison with outside medical providers and advocate for timely delivery of health care.
Assist other agency team members in providing medical, emotional, and psychological support to students in various stages of crisis.
Administer all medications and perform all treatments ordered by a Medical Doctor in a timely and diligent manner.
Document on appropriate records all pertinent information.
Assess students and use professional nursing judgment in the treatment of students and refer appropriately as needed.
Prepare required medical reports and other documents related to the health care of the students.
Attend staff meetings, care conferences, and professional development, as assigned.
Communicate pertinent medical information to members of the nursing team to ensure continuity of care.
Develop and deliver health and medical education to youth, families and staff as indicated/assigned.
Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling in the event of emergencies, or in times of increased workload which may include coverage of alternate shifts.
Able to work in conjunction with other disciplines to contribute to the overall care of the students at LaSalle School.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Current NYS RN license who adheres to guidelines within the NYS Nurse Practice Act.
Valid CPR certification.

WHO ARE YOU:

Must possess excellent assessment skills.
Must have the ability to triage medical emergencies.
Demonstrate basic skills in performing nursing procedures.
Must be knowledgeable regarding medication management.
Possess and utilize effective communication skills.
Must have basic computer knowledge, including use of electronic medical record, and familiarity with medical billing.
Must have the ability to manage time and to work in a calm, efficient manner.
Able to demonstrate support of the agency’s mission and LaSalle philosophy.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Start at 10 days off for vacation, 13 paid holidays a year, 3 personal days, 12 sick days per year and other leave time available dependent on the circumstances.
