Full Job Description

Job Overview

Balanced Living OT is growing, and we are looking for a part-time Pediatric Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping children thrive in the environments where their lives actually happen: at home, at school, and in their communities.

This is not a traditional clinic-based position. Our therapists provide individualized, relationship-centered occupational therapy in homes and school settings, working closely with children, families, educators, and other members of the care team.

We are especially interested in an OT with a strong interest or background in sensory processing, sensory modulation, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and participation in daily routines.

Balanced Living is a fast-paced, flexible, growing practice, so we are looking for someone who is adaptable, dependable, self-directed, creative, and genuinely excited about being part of what we are building.

What You'll Do

Provide individualized pediatric occupational therapy services in homes and school environments.
Complete comprehensive OT evaluations addressing areas such as sensory processing, regulation, fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, executive functioning, ADLs, play, school participation, and functional independence.
Develop individualized, evidence-informed treatment plans based on each child's strengths, needs, environment, and goals.
Provide sensory-based and regulation-focused interventions that translate into meaningful improvements in everyday participation.
Help children develop greater independence with routines, transitions, self-care, school participation, play, and other meaningful occupations.
Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, school professionals, and other providers when appropriate.
Provide practical caregiver and educator education so strategies can be carried over outside of therapy sessions.
Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation using our electronic health record.
Independently manage a flexible caseload and travel between client homes and schools.
Communicate proactively with the Balanced Living team regarding client needs, scheduling, and care coordination.
Contribute to a collaborative, positive, and evolving practice culture.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
Current New York State Occupational Therapist license and registration, or eligibility to obtain appropriate NYS licensure prior to beginning clinical practice.
NBCOT certification, as applicable.
Pediatric occupational therapy experience strongly preferred.
Experience with or advanced knowledge of sensory processing, sensory modulation, self-regulation, and pediatric development strongly preferred.
Experience providing services in schools, homes, early intervention, outpatient pediatrics, or other pediatric settings is a plus.
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while remaining connected to a collaborative team.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client homes and schools within the practice's service area.
Ability to meet all applicable professional, background, and onboarding requirements for working with pediatric clients and within school environments.
