Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients across diverse age groups, ensuring accurate labeling, handling, and processing in accordance with established laboratory procedures. Your expertise will support diagnostic testing, patient care, and overall laboratory operations. Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity
Accurately identify patients and verify specimen labels to prevent errors
Handle and process specimens following laboratory protocols, including proper storage and transportation
Maintain detailed records of collected samples, including data entry into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort during collection
Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition during procedures, especially when working with geriatrics or pediatric populations
Follow safety guidelines such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR protocols to respond effectively in emergencies

Qualifications

Proven experience in medical laboratory work or clinical specimen collection, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques
Certification or training in phlebotomy, with demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and blood sampling methods
Knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to specimen collection
Experience working within hospital or healthcare settings preferred, including familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and data entry processes
Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling supplies or specimens; physical stamina required for standing and walking during shifts
Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care across diverse populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics
Strong attention to detail, aseptic technique adherence, and commitment to maintaining specimen integrity throughout the process
