Full Job Description

St. Bernard Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Ultrasound Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical abilities, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced healthcare environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols
Prepare and position patients appropriately for ultrasound procedures
Explain ultrasound procedures to patients and address questions or concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation
Operate ultrasound equipment safely and efficiently while ensuring high quality diagnostic images
Review images for quality, completeness, and accuracy prior to submission to the radiologist or physician
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the electronic medical record system
Assist physicians during ultrasound guided procedures as needed
Follow infection prevention, safety standards, and departmental policies and procedures
Monitor patient condition during procedures and respond appropriately to patient needs or emergency situations
Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Maintain cleanliness and organization of ultrasound rooms and equipment
Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities

Qualifications

Graduate from an AMA-approved accredited school.
BLS certified.
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)(R)(S) required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer).

Pay: $31.80 - $33.80 per hour
