Overview

Join our dynamic finance team as a Junior Accountant and play a vital role in supporting our accounting operations. This energetic position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in corporate and governmental accounting, while working with cutting-edge financial software and systems. As a Junior Accountant, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and assisting with various accounting functions that keep our organization running smoothly. Responsibilities

Assist with general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft
Prepare journal entries and support month-end closing activities with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
Conduct data entry and Excel data analysis to identify discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy
Help with audit preparations by organizing documentation related to SOX compliance, tax filings, and internal controls
Contribute to bookkeeping activities and assist in budget analysis, credit analysis, and account analysis as needed

Skills

Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and governmental accounting standards
Experience with financial software such as Workday, Paychex, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Xero, Sage, or similar systems
Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or UltiPro and accounts payable/receivable management processes
Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail for accurate data entry and account analysis
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while demonstrating strong organizational skills
Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and supporting customer service initiatives
