We are seeking a motivated Flooring Installer Helper for an independent 1099 contract position. No prior experience is required. This is a single-position role for an individual helper; crew applications will not be accepted. You will handle the end-to-end support of resilient flooring installations. Your responsibilities span from thorough surface preparation to assisting with precise plank layout, final trim work, and site protection.Compensation & Growth Path
- Starting Pay: $0.12 – $0.15 per square foot (paid bi-weekly per completed job).
- Crew Promotion: $0.30 per square foot once integrated fully into the installation crew.
- Future Potential: Up to $0.70 per square foot if you advance to running your own jobs.
Key Responsibilities1. Floor Preparation & Demolition
- Scrape surfaces: Remove old adhesive, staples, carpet tack strips, and debris.
- Sweep thoroughly: Ensure the subfloor is completely free of dust and grit.
- Inspect subfloors: Check for flatness and structural integrity before layout.
2. Flooring Installation Assistance
- Lay materials: Assist with installing Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), Engineered Vinyl Plank (EVP), Engineered Vinyl Tile (EVT), and Laminate.
- Stagger joints: Help maintain proper plank separation according to manufacturer specifications.
- Manage expansions: Leave correct perimeter gaps to prevent buckling.
3. Finish Carpentry & Detailing
- Install quarter-rounds: Cut and secure shoe moldings or quarter-rounds to cover expansion gaps.
- Caulk openings: Apply clean, professional caulk beads around door casings, jambs, and baseboards.
- Undercut jambs: Flush-cut door jambs so flooring slides cleanly underneath.
4. Clean-Up & Protection
- Clear debris: Remove all trash, sawdust, and material off-cuts from the workspace.
- Protect floors: Cover the newly installed flooring entirely with heavy-duty cardboard.
- Final walk-through: Ensure the site is spotless and ready for client inspection.
Required Skills & Qualifications

- Physical stamina: Ability to kneel, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently.

Pay: $600.00 - $2,800.00 per week
