Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Weekend Special LPN to work 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. This nurse will be paid 8 ghost hours for every weekend he/she works 32 hours. Our ideal candidate will be a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). In this role, you will provide direct resident care, administer medications and work closely with other nurses, physicians and support staff to ensure the highest level of care for our residents. Our ideal candidate will also possess a strong commitment to patient care, be a team player with strong clinical skills, attention to detail and a genuine passion for caring for others. You will play a key role in monitoring our residents’ health, responding to changes in condition and helping to create a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for our residents and their families.

Duties

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, (RN), render nursing care to residents
Observe and report symptoms and conditions
Take and accurately record temperature, respiration, pulse, and blood pressure
Assist in the administering of medications and record reactions
Maintain records reflecting the residents' conditions
Bathe and feed acutely ill residents
Assist in improving the welfare of the residents
Other duties as assigned
The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

License/Registration: Licensed Practical Nurse registered with the Board of Examiners of Practical/Vocational Nurses
Education: High school diploma, ability to read, write, follow written and oral instructions, and successfully completed the Louisiana Practical Nurse-training program; and, the appropriate training as required by state and federal regulations to instruct nurse aide training program.
Experience: On-the-job training as an integral part of the licensed-training program and at least one year of experience preferred.
Job Knowledge: Nursing policies and procedures, administration of medication, federal and state laws and regulations relative to resident care, facility policies. Must be proficient with computers and Point Click Care. Must have knowledge of infection control and Material Safety Data Sheets.
Continuing Education: As required to retain license and registration and meet requirements of state and federal regulations including in-service training programs.
Standards: Knowledgeable of nursing standards of care and assessment. Possess self-initiative and accountability attributes. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Other: Competent in supervision, leadership, caring attitude, observant, maintain good working relationships, judgment, and emotional stability. Exhibit genuine interest in residents; patience and tact in dealing with residents, families, and visitors; initiative and judgment in recognizing symptoms indicative of resident’s adverse reactions to treatment; willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks.
Work area and environment: Nursing department, resident rooms, supply room, nursing station, and throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care in accordance with nursing facility and nursing service policies and procedures.
Prepare and administer medications according to procedure and be aware of pharmacologic and therapeutic effect.
Record nursing information on resident's nursing care plans and clinical records, including nursing notes, graphic sheets, medication and treatment records; transcribe physician's orders.
Observe, report and record resident reaction to drugs, tests, treatments and therapeutic measures.
Participate in the staff development program.
Assist with the orientation and training of personnel.
Participate in formal and informal staff development in-service programs, workshops, institutes, and conferences.
Inform charge nurse of departmental activities and condition of each resident.
Assume responsibility for residents assigned to his/her care, including regular bed checks to ensure that no resident is left unattended or permitted to wander from the premises and ensure that resident call lights are answered promptly.
Report incidents of suspected resident abuse immediately.
Responsible for supervision of nursing aides working with him/her.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
