Position Summary
The Residential & Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for developing, managing, and growing sales across both residential and commercial markets. This position sells residential and commercial garage door systems, openers and operators, dock equipment, access controls, accessories, and related services to homeowners, contractors, property managers, commercial businesses, and industrial customers.
This role is responsible for responding to inbound customer leads, prospecting and developing new business, conducting on-site consultations and evaluations, preparing estimates, proposals, and bids, closing sales, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Sales Representative works closely with service, installation, project management, and operations teams to ensure an accurate handoff and a positive customer experience from initial contact through project completion.
Compensation: $75,000 annually plus commission
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to inbound residential and commercial sales leads and customer inquiries.
- Develop and manage relationships with homeowners, contractors, property managers, facility managers, warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and other commercial and industrial customers.
- Prospect and generate new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, job-site visits, industry relationships, and other business development activities.
- Conduct in-home consultations and commercial job-site evaluations to assess customer needs, take accurate measurements, and recommend appropriate door systems, openers, operators, dock equipment, access controls, accessories, and related solutions.
- Prepare and present accurate estimates, quotes, proposals, and bids in accordance with company pricing guidelines and margin expectations.
- Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and scope documents when required to ensure accurate estimating and project requirements.
- Close sales, obtain signed agreements, deposits, and other required documentation.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, customer meetings, and networking functions as required.
- Coordinate closely with service, installation, project management, and operations teams to ensure accurate project scope, scheduling, and successful execution.
- Maintain regular communication and follow-up with customers regarding estimates, project timelines, scheduling, change orders, installation, service needs, and other project requirements.
- Educate customers on product features, available options, warranties, maintenance requirements, and safety considerations.
- Accurately document customer information, sales activity, project details, pipeline activity, and forecasts using company CRM or sales systems.
- Provide leadership with relevant market feedback regarding customer needs, pricing, competitors, and product trends.
- Stay informed on company product offerings, industry trends, competitor activity, and developments within residential and commercial markets.
- Represent Superior Door professionally in customer homes, neighborhoods, commercial facilities, construction sites, industry events, and networking functions.
- Meet or exceed individual sales goals, margin expectations, and other established performance objectives.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle to travel between customer locations, job sites, meetings, and other work-related destinations.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, customer service standards, and performance expectations.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
- Follow company safety policies and all applicable residential and commercial job-site safety requirements.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when entering active work areas or job sites, including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility apparel, and other PPE as required.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings, including moving vehicles and equipment, contractors, technicians, power tools, pets, and other potential job-site hazards.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents observed during customer or job-site visits to management or the appropriate site authority.
- Safely operate company vehicles and comply with all traffic laws and company driving policies.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous sales, outside sales, or customer-facing experience.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and closing skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize opportunities, and manage a flexible schedule.
- Ability to accurately assess customer needs and develop appropriate product and service recommendations.
- Ability to learn and understand residential and commercial garage door products, applications, and related equipment.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to use CRM systems, estimating tools, Microsoft Office, or similar business software.
Preferred
- 2+ years of outside sales experience in construction, home improvement, industrial services, building materials, garage doors, or a related field.
- Experience selling residential or commercial garage doors, dock equipment, access systems, openers/operators, or related construction products.
- Knowledge of residential and commercial construction processes.
- Experience reading project plans, specifications, technical documents, and bid requirements.
- Familiarity with commercial bidding and estimating environments.
- Established relationships with contractors, property managers, facility managers, or other relevant industry contacts.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position is performed in both residential and commercial sales environments and requires frequent local travel to customer homes, neighborhoods, businesses, construction sites, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and other customer locations.
The position requires regular standing, walking, bending, and navigating garages, driveways, uneven surfaces, active construction sites, and commercial or industrial facilities. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, noise, dust, moving equipment, vehicles, power tools, and other residential or commercial job-site hazards.
This is a full-time position with variable hours based on customer availability and project needs. Evening or weekend appointments, occasional extended hours, and limited overnight travel may be required based on business needs.
