Pet Care Specialist: FULL & PART TIME POSITION(s):
The Farmstead Pet Activity Center is hiring Pet Care Specialists.
The Farmstead Pet Activity Center in Eagle River, Alaska has immediate openings for energetic, organized, detail-orientated people who are hardworking, possess initiative and are willing to learn.

- As a Pet Care Specialist, you are responsible for leading your pack to establish a safe, healthy, and dynamic environment to fulfill the psychological and physiological needs of the pets in your care.

Candidate Characteristics, Qualifications and Skills include but not limited to:
- Candidates must have an excellent work ethic.
- Always arrive at work on time.
- Able to work both independently and in a group environment.
- Able to take direction and constructive criticism.
- Able to stand for long periods of time and actively interact with the animals.
- The Farmstead PAC has a dynamic, agile atmosphere and candidates must be able to accomplish tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Able to follow all Farmstead PAC policies and procedures.
- Have their own transportation.
- Able and willing to work outside in the Alaska weather periodically throughout the day—we are an indoor/outdoor facility.
- Able to lift, and move objects, weighing up to 40 pounds for short distances.
- Previous animal care experience is not necessary.
- Not be allergic to animals.
- Be comfortable working around all animals of different sizes.
- Able to take written and verbal instructions and perform tasks completely and expeditiously.
- Ideal candidate will have the ability to cover nonscheduled shifts when needed. For example, different seasons require additional help but may not warrant a set shift.
- Ability to proficiently speak, read, understand, and write English.
- Ability to use arms, hands, and fingers, to handle, feel, and reach.
- Ability to clean, sweep and mop facility floors; clean windows, walls, doors, sinks, counter tops; empty and dispose of debris from inside and outside of facility; stock supplies and clean/maintain storage areas.
- Willingness to perform other duties as required.
- Applicants must be willing to successfully complete a post-offer drug test.

Pay:
- Starting pay is $15.00 per hour.
- Raises are based on experience and the value you add to our company.
- We will always pay an honest day’s wage for an honest day’s work.

Work Shifts:
Typical Monday-Friday shifts are as follows:
- 5:30am-1200pm (part-time)
- 6:00am-12:30pm (part-time)
- 12:00pm-6:30pm (part-time)
- 8:45-11:45 (1.5hour lunch) 1:15-6:15pm (full-time)
- Additional shifts may become available in the future.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday (typical).
- Weekend availability (only as needed).
- Holidays (only as needed).

- Currently, The Farmstead PAC no longer has a mandatory mask requirement for staff, however, we respect the decision of anyone to wear a mask whenever they see fit.
