POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Radiation Safety Administrative Specialist
Summary
As a key position in the Radiation Safety Department (RSD) this position is responsible for complex to difficult secretarial and clerical duties for the RSD. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling activities for site personnel pertaining to radiation safety related requirements. Coordinate, document, and schedule activities of the Radiation Safety
Committee. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may receive occupational exposures to ionizing radiation that are As Low As is Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) and within regulatory limits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in retrieving data, performs data entry for daily, monthly, and annual reports; creates specific reports using spreadsheet software as needed; maintains site notices of bioassay collection and whole body counting. Maintains and updates the Exposure Monitoring and
Reporting System (EMRS) as required. Assists with the annual dose assignment and reporting process. Scheduling of regulatory and License required bioassays to include whole body counts, in vitro bioassays, and bioassay shipments utilizing EMRS and procedural requirements as directed. Collation and completion of monthly and quarterly RSD / Radiological Environmental
Monitoring Program Indicator Reports, data summaries, maintenance of various records and composing routine correspondence, preparing and distributing regulation/permit required compliance reports, scanning and inputting RSD Data in the Electronic Records Management
Data System. Assist in preparing for regulatory audits and any required post actions that come from the audits. Works with the Quality Assurance department to track and maintain the status of the RSD Action and Issue Management System items.
Applies and reinforces the skills learned through human performance training to prevent personal errors and errors by other team members.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year office experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of Database software;
Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must possess strong organization skills and highly developed verbal and written communication skills including composition and grammar. Must possess the ability to work with senior managers to develop complex documents in a time constrained environment. Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented, interpret requirements, utilize Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software programs. Must have knowledge of conventional administrative practices. Must be able to multi-task.
