Respiratory Therapist – Iowa CPAP Join a Growing Team Dedicated to Better Sleep

At Iowa CPAP, you'll become part of a specialized team focused on helping patients manage sleep apnea and other sleep-related breathing disorders. As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll play a vital role in educating patients, monitoring individualized treatment plans, and providing ongoing support that directly improves their quality of life-all within a clinic-based setting, with no patient home visits required.

Our team specializes exclusively in CPAP therapy and related supplies, allowing us to provide expert guidance and exceptional patient care. We offer industry-leading products from trusted manufacturers, including ResMed, Fisher & Paykel, and Philips Respironics. Our experienced respiratory therapists ensure that each patient is properly fitted with the right equipment and mask to achieve successful therapy and restful sleep.

Through education, personalized treatment, and compassionate care, we strive to make a meaningful difference in every patient's life all while meeting their CPAP supply needs.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Lead Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Operations Manager, the Respiratory Therapist supports the daily operations of the clinic while providing direct patient care related to CPAP and sleep apnea therapy. This position works collaboratively with team members to foster a culture of respect, integrity, teamwork, and excellence.

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for educating patients, setting up home sleep apnea equipment, managing equipment replacement schedules in accordance with manufacturer and insurance guidelines, and supporting the mission, values, and goals of Iowa CPAP.

Essential Responsibilities

Set up respiratory equipment and provide patient education on the safe and effective use of prescribed therapy equipment according to physician orders and patient needs.
Complete all required setup documentation and conduct patient follow-up as needed.
Ensure the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of respiratory care services.
Utilize equipment and supplies in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and insurance requirements.
Maintain a patient-centered approach that considers physical, psychological/social, educational, safety, and cultural needs.
Develop and maintain knowledge of third-party payer requirements and insurance coverage guidelines.
Stay current on respiratory therapy equipment, supplies, and treatment options to best meet patient needs.
Document patient interactions accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record (EHR).
Assist patients in selecting and maintaining appropriate CPAP masks and equipment.
Work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and administrative team members to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications/Education

Graduate of a State Board-approved Respiratory Therapy program with a current Respiratory Therapist license.
First- and second-year students enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program may be considered for a similar position.

Licensure & Certifications

Current CRT or RRT credential required (verification must be provided).
Current BLS/CPR certification required.
Mandatory Reporter Training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Preferred Experience & Skills

Ability to work independently while demonstrating sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong documentation skills and experience using electronic health records.
Experience with Brightree and/or Intergy preferred.
Strong customer service skills and professional phone etiquette.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to follow and apply policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
Commitment to ongoing education, cross-training, and professional development.

Additional Duties

Under physician direction, adjust equipment settings to optimize patient outcomes based on clinical findings and test results.
Provide outstanding customer service in person and over the phone.
Assist with patient intake, insurance and billing paperwork, equipment education, and device setup.
Support patients with ongoing therapy needs, replacement supplies, and troubleshooting.

Schedule

Primarily Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Occasional Saturday mornings, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Schedule flexibility may be discussed during the interview process.
