Full Job Description

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Anaheim Clinic, 92804.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for serving patients by identifying the best method for retrieving specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures. Supports Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in delivering patient care. Responsibilities include both administrative and clinical duties, with a strong emphasis on laboratory operations, compliance, and workflow efficiency. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Clinic Lead

JOB DUTIES:

Responsible for the timely collection and management of patient laboratory specimens consistent with federal and state regulations, including, but not limited to, the following:

1. Draw blood, administer vaccinations/injections, and collect laboratory specimens.

2. Perform advanced specimen collection, labeling, processing, and preparation for shipping.

3. Maintain and monitor laboratory logs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with CLIA requirements.

4. Review, track, and post laboratory results in a timely manner and escalate abnormal results per protocol.

5. Manage monthly patient lists for lab testing and ensure follow-up is completed.

6. Provide clinical services including TB skin tests and administration of prescribed medications (oral and injectable).

7. Assist providers with procedures and patient examinations.

8. Room patients, obtain medical history, perform medication reconciliation, and record vital signs.

9. Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the EHR system.

10. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure appropriate stock levels.

11. Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary work environment.

12. Provide consultation to team members regarding lab workflows, testing, and results.

13. Participate in treatment team meetings and prepare reports as needed.

14. Support care gap closure efforts, including labs, screenings, and follow-up coordination.

15. Assist with front office support as needed, including patient coordination and scheduling assistance.

16. Support patient communication, including reminder calls and lab follow-ups.

17. Adhere to infection control, OSHA, safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.

18. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audit readiness activities.

19. Report any workplace hazards, incidents, or injuries immediately to supervisor.

20. Maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.

21. Meet attendance and punctuality standards.

22. Adhere to all policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook.

23. Keep certifications and required trainings current (BLS, etc.).

24. May be required to pick up laboratory supplies or vaccines as needed.

25. All other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes:

Knowledge of clinical procedures and patient care workflows
Familiarity with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Proficiency in EHR systems and basic computer applications
Ability to work with diverse and underserved populations

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Certified Phlebotomist required
Medical Assistant Certificate required
BLS Certification required
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Working Conditions

Normal clinic environment including:

Medical office setting (in-person)
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and assisting patients
Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases
