Position Title and Summary

The ESOL Program Coordinator position is a key leadership role in the Division of Learning Services (DLS). This role is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for English Learners (ELs) through statewide leadership, collaboration, and support for school systems, educators, and students.The ESOL Program Coordinator partners with the Division of Learning Services, Public School Accountability, Federal Programs, and other Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) divisions and units to provide resources, guidance, and services that assist schools in developing effective systems of support for English Learners. These efforts focus on two primary goals:

1: English Language Development

2:Meaningful Access to Core Academic Content

Through these efforts, the ESOL Program Coordinator helps ensure that English Learners attain English language proficiency and have full access to a high-quality education. The ESOL Program Coordinator collaborates with leaders across the ADE on a variety of initiatives and projects that advance the Agency's vision, mission, and strategic priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The ESOL Program Coordinator is responsible for:
Coordination and supervision of EL Unit Specialists. The coordinator provides guidance, direction, supervision, and support to the ESOL team while leveraging staff strengths and fostering leadership development within the unit.
Maintaining expertise in effective programming for English Learners. The coordinator stays current on state and federal statutes, regulations, policies, and best practices that impact ESOL services and programming. The coordinator actively seeks technical assistance resources and research-based practices to support continuous improvement efforts and program initiatives. Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The coordinator establishes and oversees procedures related to program development, monitoring, technical assistance, and compliance activities.

Qualifications

The ESOL Program Coordinator will:
Lead in a positive, respectful, and professional manner that advances the Agency's commitment to leadership, support, and service.
Lead by example through active engagement in departmental initiatives and agency activities.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Collaborate strategically with agency leaders and stakeholders to improve educational outcomes for English Learners, including English language proficiency and academic achievement. Provide research-grounded leadership and guidance regarding ESOL programs and services.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Arkansas Educator License required.
ESOL Endorsement required.
Demonstrated leadership experience required.

Job Summary
The Education Professional I is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing educational programs and curricula within an academic or training environment. This role involves applying academic, instructive, and pedagogical principles and best practices to enhance student learning and development. The Education Professional I may work in various settings, including schools, colleges, institutes, training centers, and other educational organizations. They collaborate with educators, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and support the achievement of learning outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and implement educational programs, lesson plans, and curricula aligned with agency goals and standards. Develop techniques for delivering engaging and effective instruction to students, using a variety of teaching methods and materials. Assess student learning and progress through formative and summative evaluations. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and program activities. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to improve educational practices and outcomes. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education. Cultivate a learning environment that supports student engagement and success. Use educational technology and tools to enhance instruction and learning experiences. Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the advancement of education.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Empathy and patience in working with students and colleagues. Proficiency in using instructional design and assessment tools.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, a specific subject area, or a related field.

Comprehensive knowledge of educational principles, practices, and curriculum development.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in using educational technology and digital tools.

Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to education.

Certification in teaching or educational administration preferred.

Ability to work effectively with educators and a variety of assorted personnel.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in education.
