Full Job Description

CV Resources is partnering with an advanced manufacturing organization in Mukilteo to identify an Assistant Controller for its growing finance team.

The company is offering total compensation as high as $210,000 ($150,000-$175,000 base + 20% bonus) and outstanding benefits.

This is a highly visible role that will work closely with executive leadership and operations to support financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory analysis, forecasting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, manufacturing experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support all accounting operations and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal financial policies.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
Participate in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, inventory reporting, and project accounting.
Analyze labor, material, overhead, and production costs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Monitor inventory valuation and cost reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare gross margin analyses and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning initiatives.
Assist with payroll reconciliations, banking activities, and treasury-related functions.
Generate reports and analyses to support internal and external audits.
Review financial and operational reporting for trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, internal controls, and documentation requirements.
Collect and analyze historical cost data to support product costing and operational decision-making.
Partner with operations, production, HR, and leadership teams to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
Assist with ERP and HRIS system enhancements, implementations, and process optimization efforts.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff involved in financial reporting, billing, collections, and budgeting activities.
Foster a collaborative team environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Perform special projects and ad hoc analyses as requested by leadership.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2-3 years of public audit experience required.
Manufacturing accounting experience is required.
Experience supporting inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems.
Experience analyzing labor, material, overhead, and inventory costs.
Ability to identify trends, investigate variances, and provide actionable recommendations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing industry experience.
Experience with percentage-of-completion (ASC 606) revenue recognition.
Experience supporting SOX compliance initiatives.
Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
