Position Description: Job Summary
The Audio Visual Event Technician will support the setup, operation, and dismantling of audio visual systems for live corporate and social events. This role works closely with the client’s project manager and on-site production team to ensure smooth video programming, reliable audio transmission, accurate graphics playback, and professional event execution.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of audio visual systems for live corporate and social events
- Operate video switching equipment to support seamless video programming
- Set, align, and focus projectors of various sizes
- Support video signal flow, resolution management, and basic content formatting
- Provide two-way audio transmission for video conferences, hybrid meetings, and live-streamed events
- Set up and operate performance audio systems as a Front of House FOH Engineer or Monitor Engineer
- Create, manage, and operate graphics and presentation playback, including PowerPoint and Keynote
- Make minor adjustments to client content as needed
- Assist with general AV setup, operation, and strike, including projection, computers, audio systems, microphones, and stage lighting systems
- Collaborate with audio, video, lighting, and graphics operators in a fast-paced live event environment
- Adapt quickly to on-site changes and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
Interact with clients, vendors, and team members in a professional and service-oriented manner
Qualifications
- Experience operating video switching and presentation equipment, including systems such as Analog Way, Barco, and Folsom
- Ability to set, align, and focus projectors of various sizes
- Working knowledge of video signal flow, resolutions, aspect ratios, and basic content formatting
- Familiarity with audio consoles and systems such as Behringer X32, Midas M32, and QSC TouchMix
- Ability to ring out rooms and support clear, reliable audio transmission
- Experience working as a Front of House FOH Engineer and/or Monitor Engineer
- Proficiency operating graphics laptops for PowerPoint, Keynote, and other presentation platforms
- Basic understanding of stage lighting systems and general AV equipment
- Previous hotel AV experience is a plus
- Demonstrated experience supporting live corporate, social, or special events
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and client service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a live event environment
Compensation
The pay range for the Audio Visual Event Technician position is $25 to $65 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant work experience, market conditions, education, training, certifications, and skill level.
