Full Job Description

Specialty Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our accounting team at our San Luis Obispo office.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial activities supporting SCI and multiple affiliated entities. The Senior Accountant will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, support financial reporting and close processes, manage intercompany accounting, and provide timely financial information to company leadership.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced business environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform and oversee general accounting activities for SCI and multiple affiliated entities.
Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, vendor payments, and other financial transactions.
Perform billing functions for assigned projects and departments, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and company credit card accounts.
Prepare and maintain weekly cash projections and assist with cash flow analysis.
Support month-end and year-end close processes and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Prepare quarterly financial reports and other financial information for management.
Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and analysis.
Track, reconcile, and maintain intercompany transactions and allocations.
Maintain general ledger accounts related to company assets and loans.
Prepare reports supporting equipment usage and intercompany billing activities.
Process miscellaneous accounts payable transactions, check requests, and in-house check runs.
Coordinate with the CFO, Controller and external CPAs in connection with tax return preparation and other financial reporting requirements.
Maintain organized and accurate financial records, asset documentation, and loan files.
Assist with business license renewals and other accounting and compliance-related requirements.
Identify discrepancies and work collaboratively with internal departments to research and resolve accounting issues.
Perform additional accounting and financial responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience performing general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting established deadlines.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and professionally with employees, management, outside accountants, vendors, and other business partners.
A collaborative approach and willingness to be hands-on in day-to-day accounting activities.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize multiple accounting and business software platforms.
Flexibility and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Experience with construction accounting and Trimble Spectrum is highly desirable. Experience with Yardi and Sage Business is also beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual Pay Range: $88,000-$97,000, plus bonus potential of up to 10% of salary.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
