The LightEn Center of Consciousness & Action (LCCA) is a new 500+-acre retreat center in the Blue Ridge mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina, set to open in 2026. LCCA will serve as a soul focused sanctuary and learning center for individual and collective growth, exploration and transformation, focused on catalyzing the evolution of consciousness needed to solve humanity’s greatest challenges. The Center will host current and emerging leaders to cultivate and deepen the inner work needed to be more effective change agents in the world. LCCA is the home of LightEn US, which is part of the overall LightEn network.
OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Technician 1 role offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and eager individual to join LightEn US in our start-up phase. All utilities onsite are created at the center, and the IFM (Infrastructure and Facilities Maintenance) Department, which includes the Maintenance Technician 1 role, plays a vital role in maintaining new sustainable, cutting-edge technologies designed to be energy and earth conscious. The LCCA IFM Department supports all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems onsite, and infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation and environmental stewardship. These systems reflect LCCA’s commitment to sustainability, ensuring the center operates in harmony with the natural world while providing a world-class experience for guests. You'll work with a collaborative team culture rooted in fairness, integrity, and stewardship of the property, with a focus on excellence and environmental consciousness. The Maintenance Technician 1 will work with the IFM team and collaborate closely with other LightEn team members. JOB PURPOSE:
As a Maintenance Technician 1, with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, you will support the maintenance and operational integrity of LCCA’s infrastructure, helping to ensure a safe, functional,and welcoming environment for guests and staff. You will contribute with a primary focus of our EV fleet maintenance program with the guidance of senior team members. You will work collaboratively, learning the skills needed to uphold a culture rooted in fairness, integrity, and stewardship of the property, with a focus on excellence and environmental consciousness.
EV Maintenance and Detailing
- Complete routine preventive maintenance for the full fleet of EV vehicles.
- Detail and clean the fleet on a rotating basis to ensure all fleet vehicles are detailed monthly.
- Support completing acute maintenance when needed, this will typically include creating a parts list.
- Proactively uplift questions and issues to the Team Lead.
- Familiarize yourself with the manuals and best operating practices for each type of vehicle in the fleet.
Operational and Technical
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, outside of the EV fleet which could include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs across LCCA’s infrastructure, under supervision, to ensure systems operate efficiently.
- Assist with maintenance on equipment and building systems to minimize downtime and extend lifespan.
- Observe and assist in diagnosing issues with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as motor pool vehicles and landscaping equipment, learning to recommend solutions to senior team members.
- Collaborate with the IFM team to complete maintenance tasks based on guest needs, event schedules, and seasonal demands.
- Assist in maintaining the horticultural complex, spa, fitness center, eco machine, other
specialized facilities, and onsite equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Assist with documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repair logs.
Tool & Supply Upkeep
- Keep track of tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring availability for maintenance tasks.
- Develop skills in checking and logging assets.
- Follow original manufacture recommended maintenance plans for our vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Follow and complete established operational guidelines and training modules.
- Learn technical trade skills on the job from more senior level IFM department leaders and staff.
- Gain experience in understanding high-quality standards to support efficient operations.
- Build communication skills for internal team, guest, and client facing communication.
Personnel and Collaborative
- Learn from senior staff on the team by observing, asking questions, promoting teamwork, and reinforcing safety protocols.
- Maintain clear communication within the IFM team, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., housekeeping, culinary, events) to support maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to guest experiences.
- Suggest improvements to maintenance procedures to enhance efficiency and quality of service.
- Maintain a safe working environment by reporting equipment maintenance needs, identifying hazards, and supporting accident prevention measures
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical aptitude with a desire to repair and maintain equipment with a focus on EV cleaning and repairs.
- Interest in multi-system maintenance operations (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
- Eagerness to develop a technical mindset and problem-solving skills for facility systems.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools for documentation and scheduling.
- Good time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully as part of the team.
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:
- Some prior maintenance, mechanic or technical fields experience preferred.
- This is an entry level role with on the job training.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Enrollment in or completion of technical training in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related fields is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Ability to regularly carry, push, and pull weight over 75 lbs.
- Assist with equipment moves on property when requested.
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting required for extended periods
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain across the property
TIME REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work 40 hrs per week. (Full-Time)
- Ability to be flexible with scheduling during high programming periods.
- Ability to assist as needed with other projects onsite as to support the LCCA mission.
SALARY + BENEFITS: The hourly range for this role is $23-25 dependent on experience.
