Facilities Maintenance Assistant
The Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD) is a 50-year-old nonprofit organization based in Athens, OH. The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Assistant (approximately 20 hours per week) to join our team. In this role, you will help maintain COAD's facilities, grounds, and equipment, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for employees, clients, students, and visitors while supporting the day-to-day operations of our organization.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Assist with routine maintenance and upkeep of the COAD office building and grounds.
· Perform custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and cleaning offices, hallways, stairways, and common areas.
· Assist with minor building repairs including painting, basic plumbing, replacing HVAC filters, and other routine maintenance projects.
· Maintain the exterior of the property by mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, cultivating flower beds, and removing snow and debris from sidewalks and entrances.
· Assist with routine maintenance of agency vehicles and equipment and coordinate major service as needed.
· Order and maintain an inventory of maintenance and janitorial supplies.
· Assist with monthly inspections of emergency lighting and fire extinguishers and coordinate annual inspections and maintenance.
· Operate equipment and tools safely while maintaining a clean, organized, and secure work environment.
· Support the Maintenance Coordinator in ensuring COAD's facilities reflect a positive image for employees, clients, and community partners.
Key Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Six months of maintenance, custodial, facilities, landscaping, or related experience preferred.
· Valid driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance required.
· Basic knowledge of building maintenance, custodial practices, landscaping, and the safe use of maintenance equipment and tools.
· Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and complete tasks independently.
· Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
· Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to assist wherever needed.
