Clinical Mental Health Therapist (in-person), Fully Licensed

Meristem Therapy Services | Athens, GA | Full-Time

Licensure required: Fully licensed in Georgia (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PhD, or PsyD)

About the role:

Meristem is an established group practice in Athens with a steady referral stream, real colleagues, and an in-person office, not a caseload you have to build alone or a productivity quota you have to chase. We handle billing, credentialing, liability, the EHR, and advertising so your time goes to clinical work.
We're hiring one full-time fully-licensed therapist to join a team of clinicians who are committed to growing as professionals through consultation and learning from each other.
Our mission is to set the standard for authentic, compassionate, trauma-centered mental health and harm-reduction psychotherapy in Athens and throughout Georgia. We meet people where they are in their change process and respect how they want to move forward, in the room with clients and with each other as colleagues.

About our practice

Our work is shaped by six values: authenticity, connection, meaning, respect, embracing both/and, and flourishing. In practice that means trauma-centered, harm-reduction, and relationally-focused care. We emphasize both/and thinking over either/or dichotomies, client self-determination as central to growth, and clinician sustainability treated as essential to good work, not an afterthought.

Compensation and structure

W2, fee-for-service at 60% of collected fees (insurance and private pay), with adjustments possible once you reach full-time status for the preceding quarter
Estimated annual earnings at a full 23-hour caseload: $65,000 to $72,000, with higher earnings for clinicians who carry more. Caseloads typically build over the first few months.
Full-time equivalent is 23 clinical hours per week (averaged quarterly; groups count as a clinical hour), with 28 hours of scheduled availability
One evening per week (until 7pm) or one 4-hour weekend block
In-person at our Athens office, with telehealth where clinically appropriate
Time off as needed

Who we're looking for

Active Georgia license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PhD, or PsyD) at the independent level, with a master's in social work or counseling, or a doctorate in psychology
Experience with older adolescents, emerging adults, and established adults
Practices from a trauma-centered, harm-reduction, relationally-focused perspective and believes in client self-determination
Comfortable working independently while valuing collegial consultation and direct feedback
Open to leading or co-leading process groups for non-mandated clients

Helpful, not required

A niche or focus area (LGBTQ+, neurodivergence, trauma, grief, anxiety, substance use, teens, etc)
Prior private or group practice experience
Interest in community outreach, training, or content (blogs, brief videos) that extends our mission
