We are hiring a Project Safety Manager to plant a flag on one Atlanta project and make it their own.

Are You a Great Fit

You take pride in the craft of safety the same way an ironworker takes pride in a plumb column. The work is a discipline, and you treat it like one.

You walk the site first thing. Boots on, gear on, radio on, before the coffee is cold. You would rather see it yourself than hear about it later.

You say the hard thing in the moment and keep the relationship whole. The foreman knows you have his back, and he knows you will stop the work when it needs stopping.

You ask the crew how they do the job before you offer a better way. You have learned that the person on the tool knows things the clipboard does not.

You close the loop. A hazard is not handled until the control is in place and the fix has held for a shift.

You write the report the day the event happened, in plain language, with the details still sharp.

You coach in private and give credit in public. You know the crew watching you take feedback is learning how to take it too.

You read the weather a day out and tell people what is coming, because a good Atlanta summer storm has ruined plenty of afternoons for crews that did not see it coming.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Crews Work Safe Every Shift

You own the condition of your job site. Site programs match the federal, state, and local rules that govern the work, and the safest known method is the one the crew actually uses.

Daily observations and weekly audits catch hazards while they are still small. When something unsafe surfaces, you document it and stay with it until the correction closes. The site is organized and equipment is accounted for at the end of the day.

Hazards Caught and Corrected at the Source

When something goes wrong, you find the cause and fix it so it does not repeat. You investigate every incident, accident, and near miss by walking the area, reading the documents, and talking to the people who were there.

Your record is factual and complete. The injury log stays current with property damage, first aids, and recordables. Leadership sees the honest trend because your reporting reflects the field.

Field Crews Trained and Confident

Every person on the site knows the safe way to do the work before they start it. You run new hire orientation, refreshers, post-incident retraining, and operator training for the powered lifts on the job.

Beyond the formal sessions, you mentor foremen and crew leads until safe behavior is the crew habit. Completions are documented, certifications are tracked, and the crew trusts that the standard is there to protect them.

Trusted at the Site and With Regulators

S&R's name on this job stands for a crew that takes the work seriously. You hold the relationship with the general contractor, neighbors on the site, and anyone else sharing the ground. The daily report the GC counts on comes from you.

You represent S&R during agency inspections and serve as the point of contact for regulators. Inside the company, you coach the field toward a culture where people speak up and look out for each other.

Safety Records Complete and Ready

The paperwork behind the program is accurate, current, and where it belongs. Job hazard analyses and PPE assessments exist for the work being done. Certificates land in the right shared folders and the job folder stays updated.

Hazardous and non-hazardous waste is handled, labeled, and stored correctly. Documentation is checked before it goes to the office, and the forecast is watched so adverse conditions are planned for.

Qualifications

What will help you succeed here:

Five or more years of construction safety experience on active job sites. Steel erection or structural steel experience is preferred.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety rules, including fall protection, confined space, hot work, lockout tagout, and chemical management.
Experience leading agency inspections on site and serving as the contractor point of contact during the visit.
Proven ability to investigate incidents, write factual narrative reports, and drive corrections to closure.
Experience delivering new hire orientation, operator training for forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts, and ongoing compliance training to field crews.
Comfort with SharePoint for document management and solid skill with common office software for reports, logs, and presentations.
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to brief executive leadership and coach foremen with equal credibility.
Able to work independently on a single project site while reporting to company safety leadership.
Able to walk and work on uneven ground in extreme temperatures, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and climb ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and aerial lifts.
Able to wear conventional fall protection equipment rated to a 300 pound universal weight restriction.
Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
A bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field is preferred.
