Full Job Description

This is a specialized contractor role. To be considered, applicants must meet every mandatory requirement below at the time of application. · Education and experience: A master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; OR a bachelor's degree in one of these fields plus a minimum of three years of direct professional experience in foster care, adoption, home studies, or child welfare assessments. · IMPACT FCP Training: Applicants must have already completed IMPACT FCP Training. Candidates who are only willing to obtain this training later do not meet the minimum requirement. · SAFE and NTDC: Applicants must hold current certification as a SAFE Home Study Practitioner and must have completed the National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC). Application requirement: The resume or application must clearly list the qualifying degree, the number of years of directly related experience, and the IMPACT FCP, SAFE Home Study Practitioner, and NTDC credentials. Proof of credentials will be required during the screening process. Applications that do not clearly document all required qualifications will not be considered.

Position Summary

The Home Study Practitioner uses assessment tools to evaluate the motivation and suitability of prospective or current foster, adoptive, and respite families to care for children from difficult places. The practitioner trains families, conducts assessments, and makes recommendations regarding family approval. This position reports to the Supervisor for the Crossroads Foster Care and Adoption Program.

General Responsibilities

· Assist families with completing required documents following an information session.

· Provide timely communication to prospective or current foster and adoptive families and staff.

· Assess a family's motivation and suitability to care for children from difficult places through home visit interviews, safety checks, and data collection.

· Demonstrate awareness of diverse backgrounds and cultures, approach families with dignity and respect, and educate families that are willing to foster or adopt cross-culturally.

· Provide training to foster and adoptive parents as needed.

· Educate foster and adoptive families about common diagnoses, behaviors, and needs that may be present after a child is placed.

· Teach families about the importance and impact of positive interactions with a child's biological family and help address concerns regarding that partnership.

· Educate families on agency and state policies and the standards that must be maintained throughout the foster care or adoption process.

· Complete SAFE-certified home studies in accordance with Georgia law for the purpose of approving foster and adoptive homes.

· Assist staff in determining whether a family may be an appropriate placement option for the needs of a specific child or children.

· Maintain child and family case records, including materials required by agency, licensing, accreditation, and contract standards.

· Assist with onboarding new staff and interns.

· Maintain confidentiality for families and the agency.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

· A master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; OR a bachelor's degree in one of these fields plus a minimum of three years of direct professional experience in foster care, adoption, home studies, or child welfare assessments.

· Completed IMPACT FCP Training at the time of application.

· Current certification as a SAFE Home Study Practitioner.

· Completion of the National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC).

· Experience in the foster care or adoption field.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong report-writing skills.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.

· Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and Extended Reach.

· A valid Georgia driver's license.

· Ability to successfully complete required criminal records checks, child abuse records checks, a motor vehicle report, and drug screening.

Preferred Qualification

· CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification within an agreed-upon timeframe
