Location: Atlanta, GA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Starting at $75,000+, DOE, plus benefits

Position Summary

Mission Bakery is entering a major growth phase and we're looking for an Executive Pastry Chef to lead the kitchen through it. This is a working chef role: you'll execute the pastry program, run daily production, and build the team that carries the bakery to its next scale, across both retail and wholesale.

Mission Bakery is part of a family-owned coffee company with three decades in specialty food and beverage. That heritage shapes how we operate: we value people who take ownership of their craft, share information openly rather than working in silos, hold a high bar without ego about it, and genuinely enjoy the work.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development: Develop and refine the pastry lineup — sourdough and other breads, laminated doughs, cookies, cakes, and seasonal items — for retail and wholesale channels
Production Leadership: Run day-to-day baking operations across a 7-day schedule, personally working the line alongside the team
Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, train, and mentor bakers and kitchen staff as the team grows from roughly 10 to 15–20
Quality Control: Hold every product to a consistent standard for taste, appearance, and execution
Inventory and Cost Control: Order supplies, manage food costs, and minimize waste against budget
Sanitation and Safety: Maintain food handling, storage, and cleanliness standards across all prep areas
Growth Partnership: Work with ownership on wholesale expansion and standing up the new facility

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume bakery, resort, or hotel pastry program
Culinary degree or formal pastry training preferred, not required with equivalent experience
Deep technical range across bread, laminated dough, cake, and pastry
Proven ability to lead and train a team while staying hands-on in production
Composure under high-volume, high-pace, dual-channel demand
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Based in or willing to relocate to Atlanta, GA

Schedule: Early mornings, weekends included, no nights.

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
