Full Job Description

VACANCY:At present there is one (1) vacancy with the Seneca County Airport

RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of Seneca County or one of the six (6) contiguous counties for one (1) month preceding the date of application. Preference in appointment may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality in which appointment is to be made for at least one (1) month prior to the date of certification and are residents of such municipality at the time of appointment.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only):

Manages the Finger Lakes Regional Airport in compliance with Federal, State, and Local Laws and Airport rules and regulations to ensure the efficient and safe operation of Corporate and General Aviation aircraft and the safety of the traveling public.

Operational Oversight: Manage daily on-site operations, including airfield inspections and safety checks to maintain FAA compliance. Inspect runways, taxiways, safety areas, Navigation Aids, Fueling System, and Airport Buildings and Grounds to ensure safe operation in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations. Open and close Airport dependent on operational conditions. Oversee maintenance and repair of County owned buildings, hangars, parking areas, heavy equipment, maintenance/office equipment, and courtesy car. Schedule and perform regular mowing and snow removal activities. Perform basic tasks related to facility maintenance as necessary. Supervises airport personnel.

Administration & Finance: Develop and manage airport budgets, coordinate with the County Finance Department to ensure timely processing of invoices, submit grant reimbursements, oversee collection of funds for hangars rentals, tie-down fees, and fuel sales.

Strategic Planning/Grant Administration: Coordinate with the Airport Advisory Committee to make recommendations to the Seneca County Board of Supervisors on capital improvements, equipment purchases, and Airport policies. Coordinate with Airport Consultants in the timely submissions and administration of Federal Aviation Administration and New York State Department of Transportation Aviation Bureau grant application.

Community Engagement: Work with the Airport Advisory Board, FLAPS flying club, and on-site businesses to promote the airport’s economic value to the region.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year university or college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Science, Business Administration, or a related preferred field, OR

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college with an Associate’s Degree and two (2) years of experience as described below, OR

C. Minimum 4 years of experience in airport management or a related aviation field (e.g., FBO management, public administration with an aviation focus).

D. Certifications: AAAE Certified Member (C.M.) or Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) designation is a plus.

E. Pilot License is desirable, but not required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS:

Possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License is required.

Pay: $67,485.00 - $100,199.00 per year
