Full Job Description

Summary:

The Nutrition, Health, & Disabilities Manager leads the departments of Nutrition Services, Health Services, Mental Health Services, and Disabilities Services for the Head Start program. The Manager ensures compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and provides leadership, supervision, strategic planning, and community partnership development to enhance child and family outcomes.

Primary duties:

Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate FSAs and Home Visitors/Parent Educators.

Leadership & Supervision:

Supervise Health, Nutrition, Mental Health, and Disabilities content specialists and associated staff.
Lead regular staff meetings with content area teams to support service coordination, professional development, and program improvement.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and training to strengthen staff capacity and service delivery.

Program Oversight & Strategic Coordination

Ensure full compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards related to Health, Nutrition, Mental Health, and Disabilities.
Develop and implement comprehensive policies, procedures, and systems to support effective and efficient services.
Pursue partnerships with local community agencies, medical and dental providers, mental health professionals, and disability service providers.
Manage written collaborations and contracts with health, nutrition, disabilities, and community partners.
Monitor services for children with disabilities to ensure timely evaluations, IFSP/IEP development, and implementation of specialized services.
Identify staff training needs and provide professional development sessions on relevant topics (e.g., case management, child safety, health practices).
Serve as a liaison between the agency and community resources to strengthen comprehensive services.
Meet with parents as needed to address health, mental health, nutrition, or disabilities needs.
Promote programs and partnerships that align with and advance the ACHR mission.

Data Management & Reporting

Maintain accurate service records and documentation in compliance with confidentiality standards.
Analyze program data to track progress toward Goals/Objectives and other agency benchmarks.
Prepare reports for agency leadership and funding sources on service area performance.
Monitor disabilities service data to ensure compliance with federal mandates and timely interventions.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure staff compliance with all safety, health, and abuse-reporting requirements.
Monitor adherence to policies and procedures designed to safeguard children and families.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Health Services, Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in social services, health, mental health, or disabilities, including case management.
Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
