Wuest Group is growing, and we're looking for a Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our Austin-based team in a full-time, in-office capacity. The Role
Wuest Group is seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, job costing, accounts receivable, and financial administration. This role is highly visible within the organization and serves as a key link between our accounting, operations, and leadership teams.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing accounting workflows independently, monitoring project financial performance, and proactively identifying issues before they become problems.
Key Responsibilities
Project Accounting & Job Costing
- Manage and audit active customer job structures within QuickBooks
- Track labor hours and project costs against approved architectural and civil engineering proposals
- Monitor project budget burn rates and proactively notify leadership when projects approach established cost thresholds
- Support accurate job setup and cost tracking for new projects
Financial Operations
- Lead the weekly financial review meeting with company partners
- Prepare and present real-time Accounts Receivable reporting
- Execute a structured weekly financial checklist to ensure accounting accuracy and consistency
- Manage accounts payable and vendor payments
- Assist with cash flow management and financial reporting activities
Accounts Receivable & Administrative Management
- Manage the accounting inbox and respond to vendor and customer inquiries via phone and email
- Coordinate collections and follow-up activities as needed
- Review incoming mail for tax notices, municipal correspondence, and other time-sensitive financial documents
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Make regular check deposits with our local banking partner
Operations Support
- Partner closely with engineering and production teams to ensure project proposals are accurately translated into accounting and billing systems
- Support billing setup and ongoing project invoicing activities
- Help improve internal processes that strengthen project profitability and financial visibility
Requirements
Experience
- 2–3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required
- Experience as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper strongly preferred
- Experience with project-based accounting, job costing, or professional services firms is highly preferred
- Experience supporting engineering, architecture, construction, surveying, or land development firms is a plus
- Experience managing Accounts Receivable, collections, and customer billing is required
Technical Skills
- Strong QuickBooks experience required
- Experience with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, reconciliations, and job costing
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
- Ability to analyze project budgets and identify financial trends
- Hands-on experience with project-based job costing in QuickBooks is strongly preferred
Communication
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable presenting financial information to company leadership
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

$28–$42 per hour, depending on experience

Location
This is a full-time, onsite role based in our Austin office (North Loop / Mueller area).
- This position is in-office five days per week and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work
