Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Peer Support Worker and become a vital part of empowering individuals on their recovery journey. In this role, you will leverage your lived experience and professional skills to provide compassionate, peer-led support to individuals facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Your energetic approach will foster hope, resilience, and recovery, helping clients navigate their paths toward wellness and stability. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in diverse communities while promoting recovery-centered practices.

Duties

Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivation among clients.
Assist individuals in developing coping strategies through motivational interviewing and harm reduction techniques.
Support clients during crisis situations with crisis management and crisis intervention skills, ensuring safety and stabilization.
Collaborate with clinical teams to implement recovery plans that respect client preferences and cultural backgrounds.
Facilitate group activities and mentoring sessions aimed at building life skills, self-esteem, and community connection.
Maintain strict confidentiality of client information while documenting interactions and progress accurately.
Advocate for clients’ needs within the healthcare system, promoting access to resources and community services.

Skills

Strong understanding of behavioral health, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work principles.
Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Skilled in crisis management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to ensure client safety.
Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities, demonstrating sensitivity and respect for different backgrounds.
Excellent client communication skills, including active listening, motivational interviewing, and peer support advocacy.
Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and recovery-oriented practices to promote client empowerment.
Experience sharing personal recovery stories to foster trust and inspire hope among clients.
