Position Overview

The Veterinary Cardiologist is responsible for providing advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative care for patients with cardiovascular disease. This role works collaboratively with emergency and specialty teams to deliver comprehensive, high-quality patient care while supporting clients through complex medical decisions with clarity and compassion. The Cardiologist plays a key role in developing treatment plans, performing specialized procedures, and contributing to the continued growth of cardiology services within Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists.
What You’ll Do
Help shape and grow the cardiology service, with autonomy in clinical protocols, workflow, and program development
Work with an established emergency and specialty referral base with strong case volume and continued growth opportunity
Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, including medical management and interventional procedures
Benefit from strong relationships with local general practice partners, with the opportunity to expand outreach and build your own referral network
Collaborate with emergency and specialty teams to manage critical cardiac cases and ensure continuity of care
Provide clear, compassionate communication to clients regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options
Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in a timely manner
Mentor and support technicians and clinical staff in cardiology-related procedures and best practices
Contribute to the development and growth of cardiology services
Participate in case consultation as needed for urgent or complex cases
Stay current with advances in veterinary cardiology through continuing education and professional development
Attend all department and hospital staff meetings
What We’re Looking For
DVM or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited institution
Board certification (or residency-trained) in veterinary cardiology (ACVIM – Cardiology or ECVIM equivalent)
Active Texas veterinary license in good standing (or ability to obtain licensure)
Demonstrated expertise in echocardiography, ECG interpretation, and management of cardiac diseases
Experience performing or assisting with interventional cardiology procedures preferred
Strong clinical decision-making skills in both routine and emergency cardiac cases
Excellent communication skills with a client-focused, compassionate approach
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-specialty environment
