We are seeking a Director of Engineering & Capital Projects to join our Executive Leadership Committee and lead the strategic direction, operational performance, and long-term stewardship of our resort's engineering and facilities portfolio.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this highly visible executive leadership role is responsible for engineering operations, capital project delivery, asset preservation, infrastructure planning, sustainability initiatives, regulatory compliance, and team leadership across the property.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineering, facilities, construction, or capital projects leader who wants to influence major business decisions, lead multi-million-dollar investments, and partner directly with ownership groups, corporate leadership, contractors, architects, and consultants.
- Serve as a key member of the Resort Executive Leadership Committee.
- Develop and execute long-range asset preservation and capital investment strategies.
- Partner with ownership groups and Hyatt corporate leaders to maximize asset value and operational performance.
- Lead annual capital planning, forecasting, and budgeting initiatives.
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding infrastructure improvements, equipment replacement, and property enhancements.
- Oversee all engineering, maintenance, utilities, and facility operations across the resort.
- Ensure reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life-safety, and energy management systems.
- Direct preventive and predictive maintenance programs that protect guest satisfaction and asset longevity.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
- Lead the planning and execution of major renovation, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
- Partner with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee project bidding, contract review, vendor selection, and construction management activities.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Hyatt quality standards.
- Act as the primary liaison between ownership, hotel leadership, and project teams for capital initiatives.
- Develop and manage engineering operating budgets and capital expenditure plans.
- Monitor project spending and financial performance against approved budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Evaluate equipment replacement strategies and return-on-investment opportunities.
- Support sustainability and energy management initiatives that improve performance and reduce expenses.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering and facilities team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and operational excellence.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities for team members.
- Lead emergency preparedness, risk management, and safety compliance programs.
- Develop future leaders within the engineering organization.
- Communicate facility performance, project status, and capital recommendations to ownership and corporate stakeholders.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, building officials, and planning departments as required.
- Build strong partnerships across operations, finance, rooms, food and beverage, and other departments.
- Serve as a trusted advisor regarding the property's long-term infrastructure and capital investment needs.
- Significant leadership experience overseeing engineering, facilities, construction, or property operations within hospitality, healthcare, higher education, commercial real estate, manufacturing, or other large-scale environments.
- Proven experience leading capital projects, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, or major facility improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems.
- Experience developing and managing operating and capital budgets.
- Demonstrated success leading teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Strong project management, financial analysis, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Hotel, resort, or hospitality engineering leadership experience.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar capital improvement programs.
- Background in energy management and sustainability initiatives.
- Construction management, owner's representative, or renovation leadership experience.
- Professional certifications, licenses, or technical credentials.
- Experience supporting luxury, upscale, or destination resort properties.
Work directly with the Managing Director, ownership groups, and Hyatt corporate leadership on strategic business and asset decisions.
