Full Job Description

Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Employment Type: W2 / 6 Month Contract with potential for extension or permanent hire
Pay Rate: $60.00 - $63.94 per hour

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking experienced Lead Systems Engineers to support our client’s Military Fixed Wing (MFW) Project Engineering team. These roles will lead the design and integration of military turbojet engine systems. Candidates will be responsible for managing cross-functional engineering teams and delivering complex propulsion projects on aggressive schedules while driving technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the full lifecycle development of engine systems under tight timelines and budget constraints.
Validate requirements, manage technical challenges, and oversee system architecture and integration.
Manage fabrication costs, qualification tasks, and hardware acquisition.
Serve as cost account manager, including Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting.
Supervise 5–10 engineers (expanding to 15+ during peak periods).
Drive execution across multiple programs or workstreams with strategic resource planning.
Monitor team performance, approve task schedules, and manage risks proactively.
Foster innovation through design-to-cost and variation-reduction strategies.
Cultivate a collaborative and performance-driven engineering culture.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
10+ years of experience in design, development, and testing of gas turbine engines or similarly complex mechanical systems.

Preferred:

Proven leadership in gas turbine system development and cross-functional project execution.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as MS Project and Jira.
Excellent communication, customer-facing, and conflict resolution skills.
Willingness to travel internationally for program support and client engagement.
Ability to navigate matrix organizations and escalate effectively.

Contract Details:

Duration: 6 Month Contract with the possibility of extensions, W2 Contract
Location: On-site at 111 S 34th St., Phoenix, AZ 85034
Local candidates only. Remote work not available.
