Full Job Description

Team Leadership & Operations

Directly manage and develop the HR Business Partner team, the Leadership Coach, and the HR Coordinator, setting priorities, workload distribution, and performance expectations.
Establish and maintain HRBP assignments aligned to the organization's leadership structure, ensuring consistent coverage and clear escalation paths.
Coach and mentor direct reports on case management, employee relations judgment, and consultative partnership with operational leaders.
Own team-level metrics and reporting on service levels, case trends, and employee experience indicators; escalate systemic issues to the Chief People Officer.

Employee Experience Strategy

Design and continuously improve the employee lifecycle experience — onboarding, career development, recognition, and offboarding — in partnership with Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, and HRIS.
Lead execution of engagement initiatives arising from employee surveys, translating findings into action plans owned by operational leaders.
Partner with the Leadership Coach to provide effective leadership development and coaching programs for managers and directors across the organization.
Monitor tenure-band attrition and early-tenure turnover trends; design targeted retention interventions in partnership with HRBPs and department leadership.
Champion stay interview practices and other proactive retention tools across the HRBP team.

Business Partnership & Employee Relations

Serve as a Business Partner and as an escalation point for complex employee relations matters, ensuring consistent, legally sound, and equitable resolution.
Guide HRBPs in supporting organizational change — restructures, unit closures, and leadership transitions — with attention to both compliance and employee experience.
Partner with operational leaders on workforce planning, org design, and FTE management in alignment with HR department standards.
Ensure HRBP practice aligns with applicable employment law regulatory expectations, and internal policy, including ADA interactive process and leave administration standards.

Programs, Policy & Reporting

Support development and administration of HR policy, ensuring HRBP-facing guidance stays current and consistently applied.
Partner with HRIS and Compensation on data integrity for engagement, turnover, and workforce reporting used in leadership and board communications.
Contribute employee experience and engagement narrative content for organizational HR updates.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability

Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other applicable federal and state employment law, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Team Development — builds capability in others and leads through coaching rather than direct control.
Employee Relations Judgment — balances empathy, risk, and consistency in complex situations.
Data-Informed Decision Making — uses engagement, turnover, and case data to prioritize action.
Change Leadership — guides teams and leaders through restructuring with clarity and stability.
Strategic Communication — translates HR activity into business-relevant language for operational and executive audiences.

Primarily office-based within a hospital or administrative setting, with regular presence across business units supported by the HRBP team. Occasional travel between St. Luke's locations required. Standard full-time schedule with availability for periodic off-hours matters requiring urgent HR attention.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
