The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications for patients on Inpatient, 340 B and Retail Pharmacy upon receipt of medication order and to provide drug information to the medical and nursing staff upon request based upon the age of the patient served.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
- Registered Pharmacist in the State of Michigan.
- Experience in institutional practice with USP 797 competency standards documented.
- Must be self-directed, motivated and capable of supervising supporting personnel.
- Must have effective communication skills.
POSITION DUTIES: ESSENTIAL
- Is responsible for all the technical and professional functions related to the dispensing of any medications.
- Is responsible for enforcing the departmental policies and procedures as outlined in the Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
- Supervises the activities of the Pharmacy Technician.
- Is responsible for assisting in contacting physicians regarding clarification of medication orders on medications that are not obtainable.
- Monitors drug therapy of patients by screening Patient Medication Profile for potential medication problems; contacts prescriber when applicable.
- Maintains competency as required by professional standards.
- Complies with HIPAA requirements for security and confidentiality.
- Observes all infection control and safety policies and procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of BCMH Corporate Compliance plan, Code of Conduct and reporting process of any compliance concerns.
- Is responsible for completing educational requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
