Full Job Description

COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

SUMMARY

Provides effective and timely secretarial support to school administrative and teaching staff in the Special Education Department

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES mayinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist Special Education Team Chair with maintaining records of IEP's and other special education related documents.
Maintain and monitor timelines for evaluations, meetings, etc.
Collaborate with administrators, teachers and service providers on completion of tasks and communicating with families.
Organize materials, schedules, meetings, etc. for the entire special education department.
Complete all clerical work for the entire special education department.
Maintain all student files for the entire special education department.
Collaborate with the guidance department to maintain cumulative records.
Coordinate and schedule various meetings with parents and staff.
Assist special educators in daily tasks including student information retrieval and scheduling activities.
Maintain knowledge of special education law/IDEA
Interact with students, staff, and the general public in a tactful and professional manner.
Answer direct calls.
Maintain confidentiality and confidential files.
Perform relevant professional tasks or duties as may be assigned by the building Principal and/or his designee.
Must be able to multi-task and perform each essential duty satisfactorily and proficiently in a fast-paced, often noisy environment.
Strong knowledge base and skill in all Google Suite.

QUALIFICATIONS

Willingness to learn Special Education software programs and special education procedures.
Creative, reflective and growth minded mindset
Must have excellent public interface skills
Must be able to mult-task in a very, busy fast paced environment
Strong knowledge of and skill in Microsoft Office Programs
Accuracy and attention to detail are a must
Ability to work cooperatively with staff, teachers, students, parents and administrations
Maintain confidentiality and confidential files
Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required
