Full Job Description

Role Overview

The Molecular Technologist is responsible for performing high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory guidelines. This role involves preparing and analyzing biological samples, conducting molecular assays (e.g., PCR, RT-PCR), and interpreting results to support accurate and timely diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform molecular diagnostic tests such as PCR, RT-PCR and real-time PCR (Preferred experience in Quantstudios)
Extract and purify nucleic acids (DNA/RNA) from clinical specimens
Prepare reagents, maintain equipment, and monitor quality control procedures
Analyze and interpret test results with accuracy and precision
Record, verify, and report results according to lab protocols and compliance standards
Maintain proper documentation for CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements
Troubleshoot technical and instrument issues
Participate in validation, proficiency testing, and lab improvements
Collaborate with laboratory staff, pathologists, and healthcare professionals
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Molecular Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field (required)
Certification by ASCP (MB or MT/MLS with molecular experience) or equivalent (preferred)
Prior experience in a clinical molecular laboratory setting (preferred)
Strong knowledge of molecular techniques and instrumentation
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
