Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Site Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and execution of all day-to-day warehouse operations within the fulfillment center. This role oversees inbound receiving, inventory control, outbound fulfillment, labor management, facility operations, and safety while ensuring consistent execution of standardized operating procedures.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Site Operations Manager serves as the senior operational leader at the facility, translating company strategy into daily execution. This position is accountable for inventory accuracy, service level attainment, labor efficiency, employee development, and maintaining a safe, organized, and audit-ready operation.

The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives on the warehouse floor, builds high-performing teams, drives accountability, and continuously improves operational performance through disciplined execution and data-driven decision making.

Primary Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Provide overall leadership for daily warehouse operations, including inbound, outbound, inventory control, and support functions.
Establish daily operational priorities and communicate expectations to supervisors and associates.
Lead daily startup meetings, shift huddles, and end-of-shift reviews.
Monitor workflow throughout the day and adjust labor and resources to meet changing business demands.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Partner with the Vice President of Operations to implement strategic initiatives and company objectives.

Inventory Management & Warehouse Accuracy

Own inventory accuracy throughout the facility with a target of 99.9% or greater.
Oversee cycle counts, inventory audits, location verification, and reconciliation activities.
Investigate inventory discrepancies using structured root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Ensure proper product slotting, bin accuracy, and warehouse organization.
Maintain compliance with lot tracking, expiration date management, serial number control, and License Plate Number (LPN) processes when applicable.
Drive continuous reduction of inventory adjustments and inventory-related customer issues.

Inbound Operations

Manage all receiving operations from trailer arrival through final put-away.
Ensure dock-to-stock turnaround meets contractual customer service level agreements.
Verify receiving accuracy, product quality inspections, damage documentation, and inventory transactions.
Coordinate dock scheduling with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments.
Balance inbound priorities with outbound shipping requirements.

Outbound Operations

Direct daily picking, replenishment, packing, shipping, and staging activities.
Ensure all customer orders are processed accurately and shipped within established service level agreements.
Coordinate carrier pickups and shipping cutoffs.
Prioritize workload using ShipHero order queues and operational demand.
Monitor shipping quality and implement corrective actions to reduce shipping errors.

Labor Management & Employee Development

Develop daily staffing plans based on forecasted order volume and workload.
Manage labor utilization while maintaining productivity and controlling overtime.
Monitor Units Per Hour (UPH), productivity metrics, and labor efficiency.
Recruit, interview, onboard, train, coach, and develop warehouse personnel.
Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and corrective actions when necessary.
Identify and develop future supervisors and operational leaders.

Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement

Ensure strict compliance with all approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Eliminate unauthorized process deviations and reinforce standardized work practices.
Identify operational improvement opportunities and collaborate with leadership on implementation.
Support new customer implementations, operational projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote Lean thinking and operational discipline throughout the facility.

Safety & Facility Management

Enforce OSHA regulations and all company safety policies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment.
Conduct routine safety inspections and address unsafe conditions immediately.
Oversee preventive maintenance of forklifts, material handling equipment, scanners, printers, and warehouse infrastructure.
Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions.
Prepare the facility for customer visits, internal audits, and regulatory inspections.

Customer & Operational Performance

Ensure contractual service level agreements are consistently achieved.
Partner with Customer Success and Operations leadership to resolve customer concerns.
Support successful onboarding of new clients and operational expansions.
Monitor operational KPIs and communicate performance to leadership.
Drive continuous improvements that increase customer satisfaction while reducing operational costs.

Qualifications

Required

Five or more years of progressive warehouse leadership experience within a high-volume fulfillment or 3PL environment.
Demonstrated success managing inventory control, warehouse operations, and labor planning.
Experience using Warehouse Management Systems such as ShipHero, Manhattan, HighJump, SAP EWM, or similar.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent leadership, communication, and employee development abilities.
Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety practices.

Preferred

Multi-client 3PL experience.
FDA-regulated warehouse experience.
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification.
Forklift certification.

Compensation

Base Salary

Salary Range: $70,000–$90,000, based on experience, demonstrated performance, and tenure.
Classification: Exempt

This position offers a competitive salary that reflects responsibility for leading all operational functions within the fulfillment center, including inventory management, labor planning, customer service execution, safety, and operational performance.

Annual Performance Bonus

Eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 10% of base salary based on achievement of operational and organizational objectives.
