The Office of State Buildings is responsible for the operations and maintenance of about 41 State buildings. This position is responsible for all maintenance and repair activities in all Office of State Buildings (OSB) including work performed by outside contractors.

This position requires technical skills to successfully perform complex repairs, technical diagnostic analysis, modifications, and installation of electronic, electrical on Energy Management Systems, Fire Alarm, and Security Systems.
The Division of Administration is the state government’s management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities, including the following:

Overseeing the state’s capital construction program

Working to provide state and federal grants for community development

Development of the state budget

Providing technology services

Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services

Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes
Job Duties:
Power Distribution, Switchgear, Preventative Maintenance, and General Electrical Tasks
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical power distribution systems and equipment, including Power Distribution Centers, Motor Control Centers, switchgear, starters, relays, breakers, bus duct, variable frequency drives, control transformers, conduit, wiring, receptacles, and lighting systems. Work may involve equipment operating from 110 volts up to 13,800 volts.
Additional duties include:
Troubleshooting electrical and electronic controls associated with HVAC equipment and determining whether malfunctions originate with the electrical supply or equipment.
Performing preventative maintenance such as cleaning and resurfacing contacts, testing power lines and motors, checking connections, and tracing circuits.
Reading blueprints and schematics to diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, including shorted or burned wiring and bus duct.
Designing or fabricating parts necessary to install new electrical components in existing panels or distribution equipment.
Electronic Access, Security, Fire Alarm, and CCTV Systems
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic building security and access-control systems, including:
Electronic door locks, card readers, relays, door switches, motion detectors, magnetic locks, cameras, monitors, control panels, and related wiring.
CCTV components, computerized access-control devices, electronically operated gates, and associated power and communications connections.
Field wiring and components for fire alarm system renovations and additions, including horns and strobes.
Test circuitry, cabling, voltages, continuity, alignment, and sensitivity; interpret blueprints and schematics; and make minor system drawings as needed. Assist contractors with power locations, cable routing, system upgrades, and installation of new field points.
Energy Management and Building Automation Systems
Install and maintain Electronic Energy Management and Building Automation Systems at facilities throughout Louisiana. Work includes installation and servicing of pneumatic switches, relays, tubing, pressure switches, cabling, transformers, and related electronic components.
Computer Center and Specialized Electronic Equipment
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment supporting computer centers and other specialized applications. Duties may include:
Installing conduit, cabling, electrical wiring, connectors, transformers, and equipment terminations.
Maintaining constant-voltage transformers and adjusting equipment to address voltage fluctuations or malfunctions.
Reading schematics and manufacturer specifications to diagnose, repair, replace, or adjust equipment.
Installing and maintaining specialized lighting controls, dimmer systems, public address systems, paging systems, alarms, and related electronic equipment.
Ordering materials and equipment needed for installations, repairs, and system upgrades.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or supervisory chain of command
