Full Job Description

GLO Resources is currently hiring an experienced Controller to work in Baton Rouge, LA. The salary is between $100k - $130k yearly, depending on experience. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm with occasional overtime. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a reputable company.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, insurance-related reconciliations, tax filings, regulatory compliance, and audit activities. The Controller will work closely with internal leadership, insurance carriers, TPAs, auditors, shareholders, and state regulatory agencies to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee accounts payable, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
Review and balance month-end financial documents and ensure the accuracy of accounting records.
Manage and monitor the company’s Profit & Loss (P&L) and financial performance.
Assist with the preparation and management of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Oversee and manage the company’s investment portfolio and related reporting.
Review quarterly and annual financial statements.
Assist with required annual filings with the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
Prepare and coordinate data exports to insurance carriers for applicable coverages.
Oversee claims imports and reconciliation from third-party administrators (TPAs).
Prepare detailed and summary reports of written premium settlements to insurance carriers.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual surplus line tax filings across multiple states.
Prepare and submit quarterly tax filings and payments.
Serve as a point of contact for shareholders regarding company changes, updates, and processing of shareholder dividends.
Oversee the issuance and processing of shareholder dividends.
Manage unclaimed property reporting and required state submissions.
Coordinate and support state surplus line tax audits.
Coordinate quarterly premium audits conducted by insurance carriers.
Coordinate annual CPA audits.
Prepare and coordinate the filing and payment of income and franchise taxes.
Manage required Secretary of State (SOS) filings and payments across 15 or more states.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support internal, carrier, regulatory, and external audits.
Monitor deadlines and ensure all financial, tax, insurance, and regulatory filings are completed accurately and on time.
Identify discrepancies, research variances, and implement appropriate corrections.
May be assigned other duties, as necessary.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5- 7 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience is required, preferably within the insurance industry.
CPA certification is required.
Experience with insurance accounting, premium reconciliation, claims reconciliation, or carrier settlements strongly preferred.
Experience with insurance regulatory reporting and/ or Department of Insurance filings preferred.
Strong understanding of financial statements, P&L management, budgeting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Experience coordinating CPA audits, carrier audits, and/or regulatory audits.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to handle confidential financial and company information with discretion.
Insurance industry experience is strongly preferred.

Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
Standing and sitting at a desk working on a computer for prolonged periods.
Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Pushing and pulling heavy objects.
