Our orthodontic practice in Beaverton and Lake Oswego is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a progressive and growing orthodontic practice, with two private office locations. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional orthodontic care by providing chairside assistance, managing patient records, and ensuring a smooth clinical workflow. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help create a positive experience for our patients while supporting the orthodontist in delivering top-tier treatment. You will be joining an Orthodontist and team who are experienced and supportive.
This role requires a warm, caring personality and a genuine love for connecting with patients of all ages. The hours of this position are 7:00 am-5:00 pm Monday-Thursday, with Friday’s available for admin duties but are not required. We serve patients 4 days per week between our two locations in Beaverton and Lake Oswego. The hourly requirement for this position is approximately 34-40 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist orthodontist during patient procedures, including Invisalign Clincheck discussions, bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and care
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, ensuring adherence to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Manage patient records using the practice management software ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes
- Maintain dental equipment functionality through routine inspection and troubleshooting of dental sterilization procedures and dental instrument processing
- Collaborate with the team to ensure infection control standards are upheld consistently across all clinical activities
- Provide excellent patient management by scheduling appointments, answering questions, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all patients
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with specialization or interest in orthodontics preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and clinical procedures including dental x-ray techniques and endodontics
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable
- Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare infection prevention protocols
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during complex orthodontic procedures like braces adjustments or prosthodontics treatments
- Knowledge of dental coding and documentation practices related to dental records and medical documentation standards
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their treatment plans and oral health practices
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team practicing four-handed dentistry for optimal efficiency
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks including dental sterilization procedures and medical imaging documentation

- Customer Service Experience

- Computer skills/proficiency with Microsoft Word, email, and electronic charting
