AVAILABLE: August 2026

SHIFT: 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday when school is in session and meals are served, August - May

COMPENSATION: $19.34-$21.12 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference given to those with large scale main dish cooking experience in a similar environment.
Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job.
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Capable of completing all main dish responsibilities for High School and Satellite Schools.
Ability to plan necessary amounts to be cooked for Heritage and Satellite Schools based on production records and daily counts.
Familiar with food production records for school food service, and ordering for multiple menus.
Good communication skills.
Excellent attendance record.
Ability to plan and organize time to complete multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
Ability to convert recipes to accommodate amounts needed.
Ability to work cooperatively with all employees, students and parents.
Ability to assist the kitchen manager in directing and advising kitchen staff on daily duties and operations and take over management of the kitchen in the event the manager is out for any reason.
ServSafe Certification is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main dish cooking up to 1500 meals per day.
Assist manager in ordering weekly necessary main dish ingredients.
Plan ahead to rotate stock, use leftover items appropriately and pull frozen items from freezer.
Maintain accurate recipes in an organizational fashion.
Practice food sanitation and safety practices according to the requirements of the Michigan Food Law.
Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment.
Assist in the maintenance of all food prduction records for Heritage and Satellite schools.
Main dish cooking for Heritage High School and Satellite Schools.
Work with manager and baker in deciding appropriate number of meals to plan for each day.
Assist in menu planning.
Communicate with manager to help prepare and send necessary food to satellite schools.
Serve meals to students or cashier on a regular basis at Heritage High School.
Cook and set up for catering events occasionally at Heritage High School.
Other duties which may be assigned.
