THE POSITION

The Bedford County Assistance Office in the Department of Human Services is searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 who is ready to take on meaningful responsibilities. This position gives you hands-on experience with scanning, filing, greeting visitors, and processing energy assistance tasks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports LIHEAP services by handling daily clerical tasks that keep applications, records, and client interactions accurate and organized. It plays an important part in helping the Bedford County Assistance Office serve families who need heating assistance. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Scanning Tasks: Scan documents, modify electronic images, and attach files to correct records
Data Entry Work: Input information into CIS and other automated systems
Information Inquiry: Access automated systems to obtain needed details
Typing Support: Prepare letters, forms, reports, and envelopes
Record Filing: File documents, organize case records, and purge outdated materials
Visitor Reception: Greet office visitors, record information, and direct them to appropriate staff
Sorting Duties: Review mail, printouts, case messages, and logs and distribute them to correct staff
Supervisor Communication: Discuss procedures, concerns, and improvement ideas with supervisor

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Seasonal employment runs approximately 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
Travel and overtime as needed.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bedford, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.83 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Bedford County. If no eligible candidates who live within Bedford County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
