Full Job Description

A Play and Behavior Coach - Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for delivering instruction and behavior support based in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children and their parents under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). This may include teaching socially meaningful behaviors in social communication, family and peer cooperation, social engagement and reciprocity, play skills, group learning in an inclusive enrichment class, and self-help skills. Additionally, shaping and supporting behaviors that interfere with one’s access to learning and joy are also integral parts of the RBT’s role.

Mission: At Grow and Learn (DBA “Playday Pediatric Therapy”) we believe every family and child that is in need of behavior coaching and development of meaningful skills should have access. To that end, we aim to serve all children and families, regardless of diagnosis. Our mission in serving our children is to support them in participating in fun and engaging activities in their world. To that end, supporting them in learning key skills, be it social communication or engaging in enrichment activities, we are excited to see their growth. Furthermore, our mission for our parents and caregivers is to empower them so that they feel empowered to navigate their days and nights with calm, confidence, and connectedness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· All responsibilities of RBTs (i.e., work 1:1 with clients and families, follow behavior and therapy plans created by a BCBA, take data, attend team meetings, debrief with parents/caregivers daily, write daily session notes, collaborate with BCBA during observations, and session implementation).

· Model professional conduct at all times.

· Engage with children and families with compassion, empathy, and positive affect.

· Use strength-based language and communication.

· Work with a variety of clients, implementing plans and protocols with fluency and fidelity.

· Subbing to assist with coverage of staff absences.

· Participate in team meetings on areas of growth and new initiatives with the company.

Minimum Requirements (education, certifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities):

· High school diploma

· RBT certification (preferred)

· At least 6 months working with children

· Experience working with multidisciplinary teams

· Reliable transportation with current proof of car insurance

· Valid driver’s license

· Ability to pass FBI criminal background clearance

· Ability to produce required health clearances such as childhood vaccines (required by those who fund our clients’ services)

· Training in the areas of being a mandated reporter, client privacy, health, and safety

Preferred Requirements (education, certifications, knowledge, skills and abilities):

· At least 1 year of working in the field of ABA in centers, homes, or the public education system

· Proven track record utilizing Behavior Skills Training

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Strong desire to work in a dynamic team and advance knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis

Working Environment:

· Multiple locations: The working environment may include a client’s home, their school setting, their camp or daycare setting, etc.

· Must be able to travel to different locations within the Greater South Bay Area

Physical Demands:

· Activities require a significant amount of moving and engaging with clients. This may include sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, walking, and running.

· Must be willing and able to lift and carry clients should a safety need be present.
