Title: At – Risk Interventionist
Reports To: Middle & High School Principal
Employment Status: 10 Month Position

General Position Summary:
Covert Middle & High School is seeking a compassionate, student-centered, and relationship-driven professional to serve as an At-Risk Interventionist. This position is designed to support adolescent students experiencing behavioral, social-emotional, academic, and trauma-related challenges that interfere with school success.
The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in restorative practices, de-escalation, conflict resolution, student advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving. This individual will work closely with administration, teachers, counselors, families, and support staff to improve student behavior, strengthen school connectedness, and foster a positive and inclusive school climate while also supporting daily building safety and supervision procedures. Given the diverse needs of our student population, including a large percentage of English Learners, candidates with bilingual abilities and/or experience working with multilingual students and families are strongly encouraged to apply.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in the areas of education, youth development, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Experience working with at-risk adolescents in a school or youth-serving environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to actively supervise students and contribute to daily school safety operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in the areas of education, social work, counseling, psychology, youth development, criminal justice, or a related field.
- CPI, restorative practices, behavior intervention, trauma-informed, or school safety training.
- Previous experience in school discipline systems, behavioral intervention, student support services, or school safety supervision.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
- Experience with PBIS and MTSS systems of student support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build positive relationships with at-risk, trauma-impacted, and multilingual students through mentoring, intervention, and proactive support.
- Provide behavioral, social-emotional, and restorative support to students experiencing disciplinary or personal challenges.
- Support the enforcement of the student code of conduct while promoting accountability, relationship-building, and positive behavioral growth.
- Conduct student discipline, restorative conversations, conflict resolution, behavior investigations, and re-entry meetings in collaboration with administration.
- Support teachers and staff with classroom behavioral concerns, de-escalation strategies, and restorative practices.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administration, and MTSS teams to identify and support students in need of intervention services.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student behavior, attendance, and progress.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment through active supervision and positive relationship-building.
- Overseeing the implementation of the PBIS Rewards system – discipline, positive incentives, check-in/check-out, and running the school store.
- Monitor and address attendance concerns, tardiness, class skipping, and other student conduct issues that impact academic success and school climate.
- Conduct daily door and perimeter checks and assist in monitoring parking lot traffic, hallways, lunch periods, arrival, dismissal, and student transitions to support building safety.
- Supervise middle and high school lunch periods as well as monitor hallways and other common areas, particularly during transition times.
- Assist families in accessing school and community resources when appropriate.
- Respond to and de-escalate student conflicts, behavioral incidents, and crises calmly and professionally, using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
- Participate in professional development and maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student and family interactions.
- Conduct relevant data collection and analysis, including participation in data-based decisions related to student behaviors and intervention implementation and modification.
- Participate in school activities as a member of the district.
- Supervise students in a variety of settings.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
