About the Role
We are seeking an elite Custom Diesel Turbo Fabricator & TIG Welder specializing in high-performance diesel turbocharger systems, custom one-off builds, and complete turbo kit production. In this role, you won't just be laying down beads—you’ll be designing, mocking up, and executing high-flow, durable fabrication projects from scratch.
From "mild to wild," your primary focus will be taking modern diesel pickup turbo kits—both one-off custom builds and repeatable production systems—from concept to completion. Beyond turbo kits, you’ll also be fabricating a wide variety of high-performance diesel components. The right person has the vision, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail required to build top-of-the-line products!
- End-to-End Kit Development: Lead projects from start to finish—designing, routing, mocking up, and final welding custom one-off kits or production prototypes.
- Hot Side Fabrication: Fabricate custom exhaust manifolds, turbo headers, crossovers, up-pipes, and downpipes using stainless steel (304/321) and high-temp alloys.
- Cold Side Fabrication: Route, fit, notch, and TIG weld aluminum charge pipes, intercooler piping, intake horn setups, and custom intercooler end tanks.
- Precision Fitting & Assembly: Notch, mock up, and weld tight-radius pie cuts, merge collectors, V-band flanges, wastegate dumps, and blow-off valve flanges with zero gap tolerances.
- Back-Purging & Weld Integrity: Execute sanitary-grade, 100% penetration TIG welds; strictly back-purge all stainless hot-side piping to prevent sugaring and structural failure under high stress.
- On-Vehicle Engine Bay Mockup: Build kits directly on modern diesel chassis, navigating extremely tight engine bays, steering shafts, and firewall clearances while maintaining clean symmetry and aesthetics.
- Jig & Fixture Building: Design and build rigid production jigs from prototype kits to ensure repeatable, high-accuracy production runs.
- General Diesel Fabrication: Fabricate various custom diesel components beyond turbo kits (traction bars, custom mounts, bumper/chassis work, and performance accessories).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Specialized Experience: 3+ years of professional TIG fabrication focused on custom turbo kits, exhaust manifolds, high-performance diesel plumbing, or custom automotive fabrication.
- Material Mastery: Expert-level TIG welding proficiency in aluminum, stainless steel, and cast-to-weld materials.
- Shop Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with tubing notchers, belt sanders/grinders, bandsaws, tube benders, and pie-cut layout tools.
- Diesel & Turbo System Knowledge: Strong understanding of turbocharger packaging, flow dynamics, wastegate placement, gravity oil drains, and leak-free high-boost sealing.
- Detail-Oriented: Absolute commitment to flawless weld aesthetics, clean heat colors, burr-free inner pipe edges, and warp prevention on thick flanges.
- Self-Driven: Ability to take ownership of a project from a pile of raw metal to a finished product on a vehicle with minimal supervision.
- Portfolio Required: Must provide clear photos or videos of previous hot/cold side turbo piping, manifold, or aluminum/stainless TIG work.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay: Highly competitive hourly rate / salary (commensurate with portfolio and weld test)
- Schedule Options: Full-time | Monday–Friday OR 4-day workweek (Monday–Thursday, 10-hour days)
