PeaceHealth St. Josephs Medical Center in Bellingham, WA is seeking a Speech Pathologist - Acute Therapy for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $46.27 – $69.41. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary
Responsible for the evaluation of patients, determining plan-of-care and goals of treatment, participating in treatment of patients within the scope of Speech and Language Pathology. Provides oversight to conditional licensees in the clinical fellowship year and students, in following the plan-of-care and treatment of patients appropriate to the age of the patient served; provides supervision to therapy aides and volunteers. Works as part of a patient care team toward the best outcomes for the patient.
What you will do:

Evaluates assigned patients and establishes a treatment plan and goals, using data from a variety of sources, such as patient records, interviews, observation and team members.

Completes patient treatment according to plan of care and modifies plan to meet patient needs, and updates plan as appropriate.

Completes documentation accurately, timely, according to regulatory and state licensure requirements, and within professional standards.

Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure smooth continuous care of the patients. May act as a liaison with nursing, medical and other therapy staffs to facilitate problem solving and coordination of other services and act as an educational resource.

Mentors and provides oversight to new caregivers, conditional licensees in the clinical fellowship year, and therapy aides. Provides clinical instruction and training to students.

Recommends and participates in development of new services and programs, quality improvement and monitoring activities.

Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services, caregiver orientation and other professional activities.

Master's or Doctorate Degree Required: Speech and Language Pathology accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association
Credentials

Required: Licensed Speech Pathologist - Washington

Required: Cert of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology

Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support
Working Conditions
Lifting
-
Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.

Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).

Stooping/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling occasionally.

Rehabilitation staff working with patients with rehabilitation goals involving bed mobility, transfers and gait may use other appropriate and approved safe techniques and equipment in the course of the rehabilitation process if determined clinically appropriate.
Environmental Conditions

Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
