Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery is seeking an experienced, creative, and dependable Bakery Decorator to join our Decorating Team. Our decorators create custom cakes, retail cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pastries, sculpted designs, wedding cakes, and specialty desserts for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and other important occasions.
This is a hands-on position for someone who can combine creativity with accuracy, organization, and consistent quality in a busy bakery environment.

What You’ll Do
- Decorate custom and retail cakes according to customer order details.
- Work with buttercream, whipped cream, Italian buttercream, cream cheese frosting, fondant, piping, airbrushing, floral designs, and hand-drawn elements.
- Write clearly and professionally on cakes using frosting.
- Create fondant accents, sculpted fondant figures, and three-dimensional decorative elements.
- Prepare cupcakes, pastries, cookie displays, royal icing cookies, pastry platters, and other specialty desserts.
- Assist with tiered, sculpted, specialty, and wedding cakes based on demonstrated experience and skill.
- Review order details carefully and ask questions when instructions are incomplete or unclear.
- Organize and prioritize multiple orders based on production needs and customer pickup times.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, appearance, freshness, stability, and completeness.
- Communicate promptly about shortages, delays, mistakes, or production concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and food-safe work area.
- Support bakery production, packaging, stocking, cleaning, and related tasks when needed.
What We’re Looking For
- At least two years of professional cake-decorating experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Professional experience with cake writing, piping, frosting application, and color coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Creativity and an understanding of visually appealing designs and color combinations.
- Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for detailed decorating work.
- Ability to read and accurately follow order forms, photographs, recipes, production lists, and written instructions.
- Ability to manage multiple orders and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Clear communication and strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to accept coaching, learn new techniques, and adapt to changing production needs.
- Basic food-safety knowledge.
- Comfort using workplace technology for scheduling, communication, forms, checklists, and task tracking.
Preferred Experience
- Covering cakes with fondant.
- Creating fondant accents, sculpted figures, or three-dimensional decorations.
- Decorating tiered, sculpted, specialty, or wedding cakes.
- Decorating royal icing cookies.
- ServSafe or another recognized food-safety certification.

Schedule Requirements
Bakery production begins early, and schedule flexibility is essential.
- Early-morning shifts are required and may begin at 4:00 a.m. or earlier, depending on business needs.
- Availability on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is required.
- Weekend and holiday availability is required.
- Occasional evening availability may be needed.
- Employees may occasionally need to remain beyond their scheduled end time to complete customer orders and production needs.
- Hours may vary based on order volume, seasonal demand, holidays, and business needs.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential requirement of the position.
- Starting pay is based on professional decorating experience, demonstrated skill level, portfolio quality, and experience with advanced decorating techniques.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Perform frequent and repetitive hand, finger, wrist, and arm movements.
- Use fine motor skills for piping, cake writing, decorating, and handling small tools.
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, kneel, push, and pull.
- Lift and move ingredients, supplies, trays, and finished products weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or equipment when needed.
- Safely carry and transport cakes and other products while protecting their appearance and stability.
- Accurately distinguish colors, shapes, measurements, written instructions, and small decorative details.
- Work around bakery equipment, ovens, refrigeration, sharp tools, food allergens, flour dust, moisture, noise, and changing temperatures.
