Position Overview
The Mill Operator role is a key position in our manufacturing system focused on mill operation and maintenance. The selected individual will operate and oversee the operation of the mill (i.e. receiving, batching, production floor, loadout, etc.) to assure compliance with established procedures relative to safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Follows standard operating instructions/procedures in the performance of any and all operator areas along with record keeping for mash and pellet feed production, grinding, batching, cleaning.
- Operates all equipment/tools (computer, grinders, tools, forklift, etc.) in all production areas.
- Responsible for Fiix Maintenance, PM, and Spare part management system for WA mill
- Prepares and maintains shift activity reports, tracks production reports, sampling reports, bag dump reports, reconciliations, etc.
- Regulates flow of materials and observes flow to ensure attainment of specified products.
- Perform daily feed, bulk and micro ingredient inventory checks.
- Perform housekeeping duties as requested by the supervisor, also is responsible to keep their designated area clean and support co-workers in other areas.
- Maintains and ensures the safety of all employees and assets of the company.
- Acquires and maintains necessary certifications (weigh master, forklift, etc.).
- Maintains and ensures the orderliness and housekeeping of any and all areas of the feed mill.
- Responsible for filling micro-ingredient, tote system, and maintaining necessary stock at the batching areas and receiving when need.
- Responsible for unloading trucks carrying mill supplies and manager paperwork.
- Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures.
- Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.
- Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
- Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
- Conduct duties in a way that maintains compliance with ISO22000 Feed Safety and Quality Program, including opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Work a flexible schedule to support the operation of the mill, including extended shifts and occasional weekends.
- Perform bagging as needed and other duties as defined by manager/shift supervisor.
Qualifications / Skills
- Strong problem solving and trouble shooting ability with strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience with animal feed or food production
- Certified as a Qualified Individual or Preventive Control Qualified Individual for animal feed.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Strong leadership and organization skills
- Self-motivated team player with a solid work ethic
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to solve practical problems and adjust to a variety of changing situations
- Experience with Organic certification, Non-GMO project, and sustainable practices.
- Forklift certified
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Physical fortitude to lift 50lbs repetitively, operate light industrial machinery for hours at a time, bend, stretch, and twist while standing on a concrete surface for hours at a time.
- Attendance is critical
- Be detail oriented, independently motivated, and a team thinker
- Will work in and around fumes or airborne particles and possible food allergens.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Recognize critical areas of the mill control feed/ingredient system.
- Able to read and speak English.
- Basic computer skills desired
- Exemplary attendance history
