Job Description Summary:
The Head Coach of Bass Fishing is primarily responsible for the development and administration of the bass fishing team. This position recruits, selects, develops, and mentors students on the bass fishing team. The primary focus is on the students' academic success, teaching the sport of bass fishing and development as good citizens and representatives of the College. Develops preliminary budget, schedule, training, travel and equipment needs. In conjunction with the Director of Campus Life, works to establish fundraising goals and promotional visibility of the College. This position is paid $12,600 in equal bi-weekly payments.
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree
Competitive fishing experience at a collegiate level
Valid Driver's License
CPR/AED Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Knowledge of competitive fishing regulations for Bassmaster, Major League Fishing, and ACA tournaments
Strong communication, motivational and organization skills
Team-building abilities and working in a collaborative environment
Other Information:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruits and maintains a roster of eligible student anglers, Coordinates with Admissions for prospective anglers. Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport, and/or attends regional combines and other events for recruiting purposes
Coaches and instructs anglers, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.
Communicate and meet with team or anglers
Build and maintain relationships with high school fishing coaches and related programs.
Develops competition schedule and coordinates team travel
Manage social media account for the team, ensure adherence to SMC brand identity and guidelines
Follows and maintains procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
Ensure proper maintenance and care for College boat and equipment.
Responsible for proper budget management and for prompt submissions of accurate expense information and receipts
In collaboration with the Interim Director of Campus Life, coordinates fundraising efforts, including volunteering, sponsorships, and other events
Follow Bassmaster, Major League Fishing, and ACA rules and regulations
