POSITION SUMMARY

The Canvasser is responsible for engaging voters door-to-door and in public locations to collect legally compliant petition signatures and support Victory Field Operations' critical field programs across Michigan and beyond. This role serves as the front-line representative of VFO and its clients, combining strong interpersonal communication, attention to documentation accuracy, and a commitment to quality that protects the integrity of every program. The Canvasser plays a critical role in advancing ballot access, voter contact, and civic engagement initiatives by consistently meeting daily production and quality standards while representing VFO with professionalism, integrity, and purpose.

ABOUT VICTORY FIELD OPERATIONS

Victory Field Operations is a data-driven field operations firm dedicated to delivering ballot access, petition management, signature verification, fraud detection, door-to-door canvassing, get-out-the-vote programs, and recount operations for campaigns and causes that cannot afford mistakes. The company partners with candidates, ballot initiatives, party organizations, PACs, and civic engagement programs to design, deploy, and defend high-integrity field programs statewide and nationwide. Built on integrity, discipline, accountability, and transparency, VFO runs field operations like a professional organization — with documented SOPs, rigorous quality controls, daily performance reporting, zero-tolerance fraud detection, and chain-of-custody documentation that protects every client's timeline and credibility.

OBJECTIVES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Approach voters door-to-door and in approved public locations to collect legally valid petition signatures in support of ballot access programs across Michigan
Clearly and accurately explain petition content, purpose, and relevance to voters in a professional, respectful, and compelling manner
Complete all petition sheets, circulator affidavits, and required documentation accurately, legibly, and in full compliance with Michigan petition laws and VFO's quality-control standards
Meet or exceed daily and weekly signature production goals while maintaining the validity and accuracy standards required by VFO and its clients
Attend all mandatory training sessions, legal and compliance briefings, and program orientations to fully understand petition requirements before entering the field
Follow all state-specific petition circulation laws, VFO standard operating procedures, and chain-of-custody requirements to ensure every submission is legally defensible
Submit completed petition materials on time and through designated channels, ensuring accurate documentation and organized packaging for processing and verification
Track and report personal production numbers and field observations daily through VFO's reporting systems, providing leadership with accurate and timely data
Communicate proactively with VFO field leadership regarding production progress, field challenges, and any incidents that may affect the quality or validity of submissions
Handle objections, questions, and rejection from voters professionally and constructively, maintaining a positive and composed demeanor throughout the workday
Maintain all VFO-issued petition materials, identification, and supplies in proper order and return or submit them accurately at the conclusion of each shift
Continuously improve personal validity rates and production performance through active engagement with feedback, coaching, and skill development provided by VFO leadership

Physical stamina and resilience to work outdoors on foot for up to 8 or more hours per day across varying terrain and weather conditions
Comfort engaging strangers, handling disagreement and rejection professionally, and maintaining a positive and composed demeanor throughout long field shifts
Self-motivation and goal orientation with the ability to manage personal production targets and maintain high output without constant supervision
Coachability and openness to feedback, with the ability to implement corrections and continuously improve signature validity rates and field performance
Adaptability and flexibility to work across varying Michigan locations, adjust to shifting project schedules, and respond to short-notice assignments as program needs require
Basic literacy and writing clarity to accurately complete petition sheets, affidavits, and field documentation that meet legal standards
Professionalism and personal presentation that positively represents VFO and its clients in all public, residential, and field environments

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required
Previous petition circulation, canvassing, sales, community outreach, or customer-facing experience preferred
Campaign or ballot initiative experience is a plus but not required for candidates who are willing to learn and work with integrity
Ability to read, write, and follow detailed written and legal instructions required
Reliable transportation required for travel to assigned field locations across Michigan
Smartphone required for navigation, communication, and field reporting
Flexible availability including weekdays, evenings, and weekends required, as some project assignments may begin or shift on short notice
Ability to meet VFO's legal, ethical, and quality standards required; background check required prior to beginning work

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand, walk, and circulate on foot for up to 8 or more hours per day in both residential neighborhoods and public locations
Ability to work outdoors across varying terrain, temperatures, and weather conditions throughout assigned field shifts
Ability to carry petition materials, forms, supplies, and identification throughout the workday
Ability to travel to varying locations across Michigan as project assignments require
Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and physical stamina during long field shifts while consistently meeting quality and production standards

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
