Job Description:
We are a custom steel door and window manufacturing and installation company that installs all types of residential and commercial doors and windows for a diverse base of customers. We are currently seeking to hire an EXPERIENCED Door & Window Installer (full-time), who takes great pride in their work and provides quality results with great attention to detail. As a door and window installer, you will install windows, sidelights, shower, single entry, double entry, patio, and interior doors.

Job Responsibilities:
Intro duties include, but not limited to:
-Installing glass into doors and windows
-Installing and fitting hardware
-Shop maintenance and organization
-General shop labor
When the installer position comes available, the duties listed below will be expected.
- Measurement and Assessment: Accurately measure door or window openings to ensure proper fit and installation. Assess the condition of existing frames and structures.
- Preparation: Remove old doors or windows, including any trim, hardware, or fasteners. Prepare the installation area by ensuring it is clean and ready for new installations.
- Installation: Install doors or windows according to manufacturer specifications and building codes. This includes fitting, leveling, and securing the units in place.
- Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to ensure that doors or windows open and close smoothly. This might involve adjusting hinges, latches, or weather stripping.
- Sealing and Insulation: Apply weatherproofing materials, such as caulk or insulation, to seal gaps and improve energy efficiency.
- Hardware Installation: Install and secure hardware, including handles, locks, and hinges.
- Glass Installation: Apply glaze to panel, ensure panel is level, set glass with even space all the way around.
- Trim Work: Install or replace trim, moldings, or other finishing elements around the door or window.
- Quality Check: Inspect the completed installation to ensure it meets quality standards and functions correctly.
- Clean-Up: Remove any debris or old materials from the site and ensure that the work area is left clean and tidy.
- Customer Service: Communicate with customers to understand their needs, answer questions, and address any concerns. Provide guidance on the operation and maintenance of the new installations.
- Safety: Follow safety procedures to protect yourself, the customer, and the property. This includes using personal protective equipment, when necessary, and ensuring that all tools and materials are handled properly.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, including measurements, materials used, and any issues encountered.
- Maintenance and Repair: Occasionally, installers may be required to perform maintenance or repairs on existing doors or windows.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or as a door/window installer.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to use hand and power tools, as well as read and interpret blueprints. Familiarity with various materials and tools used in the trade such as:
- Laser Level, Skill Saw, Reciprocating Saw, Dremel, Nail Gun
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring, leveling, and aligning materials is crucial to ensure proper installation and fit.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address and resolve any issues that arise during installation.
Physical Requirements:
- Strength and Stamina: The job often requires lifting heavy doors or windows and standing for long periods. Must be able to lift 30-100 lbs. several times per day.
- Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to work with small parts and tools.
- Climbing and Balancing: Ability to work on ladders and scaffolding safely.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Driver's License: A valid driver's license may be required.
- Clean Driving Record: Must have a clean driving record, so that you can be added to the company's insurance policy.
Personal Attributes:
- Reliability: Punctuality and reliability are very important as installations often need to be completed on schedule.
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide excellent service.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors or project managers.
- Willingness To Travel: Once per month you will be required to make a team trip to New York for installations and repairs.

Compensation:
- Starts at $18 to $22 per hour.
- Based upon experience.
- Other trade experience will be valued and considered as well.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 55.0 per week
