Full Job Description

Location: Multiple office locations throughout New Jersey with remote administrative work on remaining weekdays

Pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience

Overview

Arête Health Group is seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This hybrid position combines in-office patient care with remote administrative responsibilities, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both interacting with patients and managing the details that keep a medical practice running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with our Physicians, Nurse Practitioner and clinical team. This role requires travel to multiple partner offices throughout New Jersey.

Clinical Responsibilities

Welcome and check patients in and out for their appointments.
Verify and scan insurance cards and photo identification into the electronic medical record.
Ensure patient intake forms are completed accurately.
Prepare patients for ultrasound appointments and assist the ultrasound technician as needed.
Collect oral fluid specimens when appropriate.
Scan physician forms and other clinical documentation into the patient's chart.
Maintain organized patient records within Athena EHR.
Provide a professional, compassionate, and positive experience for every patient.

Administrative Responsibilities

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
Obtain prior authorizations when required.
Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and procedures.
Request medical records, imaging studies, and physician notes from outside providers.
Upload and organize outside records within Athena EHR.
Communicate with referring physician offices to coordinate patient care.
Perform patient outreach regarding appointments, referrals, records, and scheduling.
Complete administrative tasks remotely, including documentation and chart preparation.

Qualifications

Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
1–2 years of Medical Assistant or medical office experience preferred.
Experience with electronic medical records (Athena experience is a plus).
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
Willingness to travel to multiple office locations throughout New Jersey.
Training will be provided on company workflows and systems.
